We only hit one of our moneyline underdog picks last week as the Bills won on the road in Kansas City. Chicago and Philadelphia also won as underdogs last week. Who will it be this week?
Underdogs are 31-49 straight up this season and there are more than a few potential candidates this week. Here’s a look at the top three NFL Week 6 moneyline underdog picks.
Cincinnati Bengals at Detroit Lions
Bengals vs. Lions Betting Report
At some point this season, the Detroit Lions will win a game. This is the week. Once again, the Lions scored late only to get beat on a last-second field goal. Detroit drove the field, scored, and got the two- point conversion to go ahead 17-16 over Minnesota.
With just 36 seconds left, the Vikings drove and kicked a 54-yard field goal for the win. The Bengals had lost to Green Bay in overtime last week when neither wanted to hit a field goal. The Packers finally did and Cincy dropped to 3-2.
The Bengals three wins are over Minnesota, Pittsburgh, and winless Jacksonville. That’s not all that impressive. Cincy QB Joe Burrow has some injury issues, but is likely to play. The Bengals have given up a ton of passing yards.
With the exception of the first half against the 49ers and the second half against the Packers, the Lions have kept games close. This week, they will overcome and grab their first win of the season.
Best Moneyline Pick: LIONS +145
Los Angeles Chargers at Baltimore Ravens
Chargers vs. Ravens Betting Report
Both the Ravens and Chargers fought hard to obtain late-game wins last week. Baltimore came back from a huge deficit to send their game with Indy to overtime. The Ravens won it with a touchdown in the extra 10:00.
The Chargers scored four fourth-quarter touchdowns to come back and beat Cleveland last week. QB Justin Herbert has been outstanding and is a leading candidate for the league MVP. Despite the play of Herbert, the Chargers offense, and the ability of the defense to get after quarterbacks; the Chargers opened as a road underdog.
Playing as a road underdog twice this season, the Chargers won both games. The defense has the ability to slow down Lamar Jackson. Plus, the Ravens come off a short week having played on Monday night.
Best Moneyline Pick: CHARGERS +140
Arizona Cardinals at Cleveland Browns
Cardinals vs. Browns Betting Report
Somehow, you blow a lead, lose by five, and drop to 3-2 then play an unbeaten team at home and you wind up a 3-point favorite. That would be the Cleveland Browns, who held a 27-13 third quarter lead over the Chargers but ultimately lost 47-42.
Cleveland welcomes the 5-0 Arizona Cardinals to FirstEnergy Stadium on Sunday. Upon closer examination, the Browns have three wins over Houston, Chicago, and Minnesota. The Cardinals shocked Tennessee 38-13 in the season opener and they have consecutive wins over the Rams (37-20) and 49ers (17-10).
The Browns could be without DE Jadeveon Clowney once again. Without him, Cleveland will struggle putting pressure on Arizona QB Kyler Murray. The Browns are 5-1 in their last six home games, but there is simply too much value on the Cardinals to pass up here.
