UFC 284 is on Saturday at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia.

With the pay-per-view (PPV) event being hosted in Australia, it’s going to be another late night. The early prelims start at 6:00 PM ET, the prelims start at 8:00 PM ET and the main card starts at 10:00 PM ET.

There are two title fights headlining the UFC 284 fight card.

Alexander Volkanovski (UFC Featherweight Champion) will move up to fight Islam Makhachev for the UFC Lightweight Championship in the main event. There will also be an interim title fight at featherweight in the co-main event featuring Yair Rodriguez (#2) and Josh Emmett (#5).

Makhachev vs. Volkanovski Predictions

Fight Odds: Makhachev (-380) vs. Volkanovski (+310)

Makhachev (23-1) was knocked out by Adriano Martins in his second UFC fight, but has since gone 11-0 and finished his last five opponents. He’s coming off a submission win against Charles Oliveira.

Volkanovski (25-1) is 12-0 since joining the UFC. He has picked up wins against numerous big names, including Chad Mendes, Jose Aldo, Max Holloway (3x), Brian Ortega and Chan Sung Jung.

The big question here is can Volkanovski keep the fight standing? Volkanovski averages 6.79 SLpM and 3.52 SApM, while Makhachev averages 2.37 SLpM and 0.95 SApM.

Makhachev has impressive striking defense and he averages 3.42 takedowns per 15 minutes (65% TD accuracy). Once he gets Volkanovski on the mat, it’s going to be all over for the smaller fighter.

Best Bet: Makhachev to Win ITD (-110)

Rodriguez vs. Emmett Predictions

Fight Odds: Rodriguez (-180) vs. Emmett (+155)

Rodriguez (14-3-0-1) is 3-1-0-1 since 2018. During this stretch, he knocked out the Korean Zombie and he’s coming off a KO win against Ortega. Prior to the Ortega win, he lost by decision to Holloway.

Emmett (18-2) is 5-0 since 2019, but his last three wins have all been by decision. Emmett has won six fights by TKO/KO and he has a lot of power, but he hasn’t been able to finish anyone lately.

These guys match up very well. Rodriguez averages 4.67 SLpM and 4.12 SApM, while Emmett averages 4.28 SLpM and 4.29 SApM. Neither fighter tries to land many takedowns in the cage.

This is a tough fight. Emmett has the power to finish this fight early, but in the later rounds, Rodriguez will likely have the better gas tank. Rodriguez is also a faster striker and will have a 5” height advantage.

Best Bet: Rodriguez ML (-180)

Makhachev ML + Rodriguez ML + Della Maddalena ML (+159 Payout Odds)

Jack Della Maddalena (13-2) started his MMA career 0-2, but has gone 13-0 since, including a 3-0 UFC record. He has knocked out all three of his UFC opponents in the first round.

The Aussie fighter is only 26-years-old and getting a push on the UFC 284 main card. He’ll be fighting Randy Brown (16-4) who has strung together four consecutive wins in the UFC.

However, Brown has been knocked out in his last two UFC losses and Della Maddalena has the power to end this fight quickly. The Aussie can’t underestimate the Jamaican, but it should be an easy win.

Another interesting parlay bet is Makhachev ITD and Della Maddalena by TKO/KO (+257 Odds).
