Guardians, Rolling Behind Strong’ Pen, Face Orioles Again
When the Cleveland Guardians and Baltimore Orioles meet for the second game of their three- game series on Tuesday night in Baltimore, pitching and defense are set to play crucial roles. Both teams have potent offenses, but it’s their ability to manage the mound and the field that could determine the outcome.
Guardians’ Bullpen Dominance
The Guardians ’ bullpen has been astral this season, leading the majors with a2.32 ERA, a0.99 WHIP, and an opponents’ batting normal of.191. This strength was on full display in the series opener, as Cleveland’s relievers delivered three scoreless innings to secure a 3- 2 victory over Baltimore. This win marked Cleveland’s sixth successive triumph.

Baltimore’s Protective Highlights
Despite their fourth straight loss, the Orioles showcased impressive defense. In the fourth inning, right fielder Anthony Santander threw out Daniel Schneemann at the plate after he tagged up on a fly ball.
” That was a guy who can run a little bit,” Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said.” Big play in a big spot, kind of felt like it gave us some momentum there. We just could not get anything going offensively.”
Vogt also praised the play, saying,” He made a perfect throw.( Catcher James) McCann with a great( decoy) and tag. That was just a fun baseball play. Obviously, I wish the result would have been different for us.”
Starting Pitchers Allenvs. Irvin
Left- hander Logan Allen( 8- 3,5.23 ERA) will start for the Guardians on Tuesday. Allen has been effective on the road this month, allowing three runs over 11 innings in his last two starts, both wins against the Toronto Blue Jays and the Seattle Mariners. Allen’s former encounter with the Orioles as a rookie saw him throw seven shutout innings, striking out 10 and securing his first road victory in the majors.
Opposing him will be Orioles left- hander Cole Irvin( 6- 3,3.45 ERA). Irvin is looking to rebound from a tough outing against the New York Yankees, where he allowed five runs in42/3 innings, though the Orioles won that game 17- 5. In his career against Cleveland, Irvin is 0- 1 with a4.50 ERA in three appearances( two starts).
Crucial Players and Recent Performances
Baltimore’s Heston Kjerstad, recalled from Triple- A Norfolk, had two of the Orioles ’ five hits in the series nature.
