Nationals Going for 6th Straight Win, Sweep of Tigers
The Washington Nationals have won a season-high five straight games, reversing the damage of a four-game skid that left them 27-35 a week ago. They can creep closer to the .500 mark on Thursday afternoon when they go for a sweep of their three-game series with the host Detroit Tigers.

Washington at first intended to begin left-hander MacKenzie Carnage on Thursday. However, Patrick Corbin, a different lefty pitcher, will be called up to replace the 25-year-old. Patrick Corbin’s Struggles
Corbin (1-7, 6.15 ERA) has lost four straight decisions in a span of five starts. Casey Mize’s Season
Casey Mize (1-4, 4.73 Time), who is planned to begin for Detroit, has not dominated a match since April 21. He has a record of 0-4, with four no-decisions and a 5.73 earned run average. Mize pitched 5 1/3 innings against the Milwaukee Brewers, allowing eight hits and five runs (three of which were earned). He threw 97 pitches and only struck out one player. After two innings, the Tigers had a 4-1 lead, but they lost 5-4. Bullpen Situation
Assuming that Thursday’s down is close, Washington will probably be without closer Kyle Finnegan. He has pitched the beyond three games, getting two recoveries and a triumph. In this series, Finnegan struck out three of the four hitters he looked on Tuesday, a 5-4, 10-inning triumph. Despite giving up a solo home run to Riley Greene, he pitched the ninth inning on Wednesday and got his 19th save.
