Jimmy Butler & Warriors Aim to Extend Streak Against Reeling Hornets

The Golden State Warriors are heating up, and with Jimmy Butler now in the mix, they look like a team finding its rhythm. Fresh off an impressive 126-102 blowout win over the Dallas Mavericks, the Warriors will try to close out a brief homestand with another victory when they face the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday night in San Francisco.

Since acquiring Butler on Feb. 8, Golden State has gone 5-1, showing signs of a resurgence that has them climbing back into the playoff mix. Now, with a five-game road trip looming, they’ll look to build on that momentum before hitting the road again.

Jimmy Butler’s Impact is Already Paying Off

Coach Steve Kerr has been vocal about how Butler’s basketball IQ, playmaking, and two-way presence have given the Warriors an extra edge.

“It’s just easier to make sense of everything when you’ve got a guy like (Butler) who’s out there reading possessions and making the right play over and over again,” Kerr said.

“That’s one of the reasons why Jimmy made so much sense for us: because of his passing, the way he connects the game at both ends, and his ability to complement the chaos that Steph and Draymond create.”

Butler has scored at least 17 points in every game since joining the Warriors and has been relentless at the free-throw line, going 55-for-55 in his last attempts. His ability to draw contact and get to the stripe has added a much-needed dimension to Golden State’s offense.

The Warriors haven’t faced the Hornets yet this season, but Butler has—twice, while still with the Miami Heat. He scored 26 points in their first matchup but was held to just six in the rematch.

Hornets Limp Into the Bay After Back-to-Back Blowouts

It’s been a brutal road stretch for the Charlotte Hornets, and they’re showing signs of fatigue. After an impressive 100-97 win over the Lakers on Feb. 19, things have spiraled quickly.

  • Lost 141-88 to Portland – Worst loss of the season
  • Lost 130-88 to Sacramento – Followed it up with another blowout

With the Hornets wrapping up a grueling nine-game road trip, it’s clear they can’t wait to return home.

Adding to their struggles is the uncertainty around LaMelo Ball, who hasn’t played in back-to-back games since returning from an ankle injury on Feb. 7.

One silver lining for Charlotte? Mark Williams is expected to play after being rested against Sacramento. Williams was nearly traded to the Lakers at the deadline but failed his physical, leading to him staying with the Hornets.

Despite the disappointment, coach Charles Lee has praised Williams’ attitude.

“He’s come back even more focused, even more hungry. It’s been a seamless transition back to the group,” Lee said.

Williams had 10 points, five rebounds, and two steals in 21 minutes against Portland.

Final Thoughts: Can the Warriors Keep Rolling?

The Warriors are clicking, and with Butler fitting in seamlessly, this team looks primed to keep pushing toward the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Hornets are limping to the finish line of their brutal road trip, and their recent performances suggest they’ll struggle to keep up with Golden State’s firepower.

Will Butler and Curry continue their dominance, or can the Hornets pull off an unexpected upset?
