Warriors Face Mavericks Before Honoring Andre Iguodala in Jersey Retirement Ceremony
The Golden State Warriors are set for an emotional night as they host the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday, aiming for revenge while also celebrating a franchise legend. After the game, Andre Iguodala’s No. 9 jersey will be raised to the rafters at Chase Center, marking a special milestone in Warriors history.
Golden State Seeks Payback for Earlier Loss to Dallas
Sunday’s matchup also presents a chance for the Warriors to avenge their Feb. 12 loss to the Mavericks, where Kyrie Irving torched them for 42 points in a 111-107 Dallas victory.

Since then, Golden State has been rolling, winning four straight, including victories over Houston and Sacramento. This will be the Warriors’ first home game of the Jimmy Butler era, as all five of his games with the team so far have been on the road.
Butler, acquired from Miami, has been a key piece in Golden State’s resurgence, averaging 21 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists in his early games with the team.
Andre Iguodala’s Legacy Takes Center Stage
Once the final buzzer sounds, the focus will shift to honoring Andre Iguodala, a four-time NBA champion with the Warriors and Finals MVP in 2015. Known for his elite defense and high basketball IQ, Iguodala was instrumental in helping Golden State capture titles in 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2022.
Superstar Stephen Curry spoke about what the moment means to the team.
“It’s going to be fantastic for the entire organization to welcome my brother back,” Curry said. “We obviously don’t win those championships without him.”
Klay Thompson, who will be in attendance, echoed that sentiment.
“One of my favorite teammates of all time,” Thompson said. “We’re indebted to this man for what he gave us. I can’t wait to see his jersey in the rafters.”
Mavericks Keep Rolling Without Anthony Davis
Dallas heads into this game riding a three-game win streak, though they’ll once again be without Anthony Davis (strained left adductor). Despite his absence, the Mavs have found ways to win, with Klay Thompson stepping up big in their previous meeting in San Francisco (29 points in a December win).
Sunday’s showdown also marks Thompson’s third return to the Bay Area since his emotional departure from the Warriors in a sign-and-trade last July.
After facing the Warriors, Dallas will have another high-profile matchup Tuesday as they head to Los Angeles to take on former teammate Luka Dončić, now with the Lakers.

Who Has the Edge?
With Golden State heating up and Dallas playing strong despite injuries, this game sets up to be an exciting battle. Can the Warriors cap off the night with a win before Iguodala’s jersey goes up, or will Kyrie and the Mavs play spoiler again?
We’ll find out Sunday night.
