The Cleveland Cavaliers are cruising into the playoffs, but they’re not ready to take their foot off the gas just yet. After clinching the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference with a 135-113 win over the Chicago Bulls, the Cavs can now chase a different prize: tying their franchise record of 66 wins.
A three-game win streak to close the season would match the mark set during the LeBron James-led 2008-09 campaign. Head coach Kenny Atkinson, however, insists the team won’t sacrifice player health for history.
“It’s going to be a collaborative thing,” Atkinson said. “The players are part of it. We’re not worried about conditioning—it’s more about rhythm.”
Donovan Mitchell (24.0 ppg), Darius Garland (20.6 ppg, 6.7 apg), Evan Mobley (18.6 ppg), and Jarrett Allen (13.8 ppg, 9.8 rpg) have carried the Cavs through a dominant season, blending elite defense with scoring depth across the board.
Pacers Still Fighting for Seeding Edge
While Cleveland has locked in its seed, the Indiana Pacers are very much in control of their postseason destiny. Currently fifth in the East at 48-31, Indiana could vault to third if they win out and the Knicks lose their final three games. That scenario would allow them to avoid a matchup with the playoff-hardened Milwaukee Bucks and instead face the less-experienced Detroit Pistons.
Pascal Siakam continues to lead the charge for Indiana. He returned from a one-game absence Tuesday to log 24 points and 11 rebounds in a 104-98 win over the Wizards. Tyrese Haliburton added 22 points and seven assists in the win and continues to be one of the top facilitators in the NBA.

Matchup Spotlight: Haliburton vs. Garland
A key battle to watch on Thursday will be between two elite playmakers—Haliburton and Garland. Haliburton ranks third in the NBA in assists per game (9.6), while Garland commands the Cavaliers’ offense with precision.
Indiana has won four straight games and appears to be peaking at the right time. With home-court advantage and seeding on the line, expect the Pacers to come out with intensity.
