The Cavaliers Can Win If…

  • Over their last three games, the Cavaliers have an over/under record of 1-2 and are 1-2 vs. the spread.

The Pacers Can Win If…

With a 104-98 win over the Wizards on Tuesday, the Pacers improved to 48-31 this season. Indiana was favored by 19 points but didn’t cover the spread, and the game’s total of 202 points fell well short of the 236-point O/U line.

After a slow start, the Pacers turned things around by holding the Wizards to 13 points in the 2nd quarter. Indiana entered the 4th quarter down 73-72 but outscored Washington 32-25 in the final period to secure the win.

Despite shooting just 37.9% from the field and 25.7% from three-point range, the Pacers managed to score 104 points in their win over the Wizards. Pascal Siakam led the way with 24 points and 10 rebounds, shooting 57.9% from the floor. Tyrese Haliburton added 22 points, hitting 3 threes at a 42.9% clip.

Bennedict Mathurin contributed 17 points, with 11 coming in the 2nd quarter. Haliburton scored 10 points in the 4th, while Obi Toppin added 5 of his 12 points in the final period.

Despite a shaky start where they allowed 35 points in the 1st quarter, the Pacers tightened up defensively, giving up just 13 points in the 2nd quarter to help secure a 104-98 win over the Wizards. Indiana also held Washington to 25 points in both the 3rd and 4th quarters.

Overall, the Pacers limited the Wizards to 41% shooting, including just 28% from three-point range, where Washington made 11 threes. The Wizards also went 11/15 from the free-throw line. Indiana recorded 7 steals and 5 blocks in the game.

  • In their last five home games, Indiana has averaged 129 points per game while allowing 123. The team’s record in this stretch was 3-2 while going 3-2 vs. the spread.
  • Spanning across their last ten games as the betting favorite, the Pacers have gone 2-7-1 vs the spread. Their overall record in these games was 10-0.
  • In their last five games, the Pacers have an over/under record of 3-2 and are 2-3 vs. the spread.

The Lean

We’re putting our money on the Pacers to win, and have the projected score sitting at 128-70. We also like them to cover the spread, so our recommendation is to bet on the Pacers at -9.5.

As for the total, the line is currently sitting at 232 and our model has the Cavaliers and Pacers finishing with a combined 198 points. Our pick is to take the under.

With 3 Games Left, Cavaliers and Pacers Still Have Goals to Reach

The Cleveland Cavaliers are cruising into the playoffs, but they’re not ready to take their foot off the gas just yet. After clinching the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference with a 135-113 win over the Chicago Bulls, the Cavs can now chase a different prize: tying their franchise record of 66 wins.

A three-game win streak to close the season would match the mark set during the LeBron James-led 2008-09 campaign. Head coach Kenny Atkinson, however, insists the team won’t sacrifice player health for history.

“It’s going to be a collaborative thing,” Atkinson said. “The players are part of it. We’re not worried about conditioning—it’s more about rhythm.”

Donovan Mitchell (24.0 ppg), Darius Garland (20.6 ppg, 6.7 apg), Evan Mobley (18.6 ppg), and Jarrett Allen (13.8 ppg, 9.8 rpg) have carried the Cavs through a dominant season, blending elite defense with scoring depth across the board.

Pacers Still Fighting for Seeding Edge

While Cleveland has locked in its seed, the Indiana Pacers are very much in control of their postseason destiny. Currently fifth in the East at 48-31, Indiana could vault to third if they win out and the Knicks lose their final three games. That scenario would allow them to avoid a matchup with the playoff-hardened Milwaukee Bucks and instead face the less-experienced Detroit Pistons.

Pascal Siakam continues to lead the charge for Indiana. He returned from a one-game absence Tuesday to log 24 points and 11 rebounds in a 104-98 win over the Wizards. Tyrese Haliburton added 22 points and seven assists in the win and continues to be one of the top facilitators in the NBA.

“The beauty of Pascal’s game is his understated greatness,” said coach Rick Carlisle. “He’s consistent, reliable, and always essential to what we’re doing.”

Matchup Spotlight: Haliburton vs. Garland

A key battle to watch on Thursday will be between two elite playmakers—Haliburton and Garland. Haliburton ranks third in the NBA in assists per game (9.6), while Garland commands the Cavaliers’ offense with precision.

Indiana has won four straight games and appears to be peaking at the right time. With home-court advantage and seeding on the line, expect the Pacers to come out with intensity.
