Nuggets Aim to Begin New Streak vs. Pacers
After seeing their nine-game winning streak snapped, the Denver Nuggets will look to bounce back when they visit the Indiana Pacers on Monday in Indianapolis.
Denver never held a lead in Saturday’s 123-100 home loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers, who had lost five straight against the Nuggets, put forth a dominant effort to slow down Nikola Jokic, limiting him to just 12 points on 2-of-7 shooting—his second-lowest scoring output of the season.

Now, the Nuggets begin a challenging four-game road trip against Eastern Conference playoff contenders Indiana, Milwaukee, Detroit, and Boston. Denver will need to clean up its play after committing 22 turnovers in the loss to Los Angeles.
“No one’s going to be scared that the Denver Nuggets are coming to town,” coach Michael Malone said. “We have to play a lot better than we did tonight. We have to understand that we cannot just rely on our offense. We averaged 128 points per game on our nine-game win streak. And tonight, we had 100. So when we’re not scoring, when we’re not making shots, what are we going to do?”
Pacers Riding Momentum
The Pacers, meanwhile, have won three straight and currently sit in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, just a half-game ahead of the Milwaukee Bucks.
Tyrese Haliburton led Indiana with 29 points and 12 assists in a 129-111 win over the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday. Aaron Nesmith contributed a season-high 19 points as the Pacers took advantage of a shorthanded Clippers squad playing without Norman Powell and Kawhi Leonard.
“I thought we did a good job maintaining our poise and maintaining our attention to detail for 48 minutes,” Haliburton said. “It’s important for us to stay focused and execute against quality teams.”
Indiana will monitor the status of backup point guard T.J. McConnell, who left Sunday’s game with a sprained right ankle and did not return.
History on Denver’s Side
Despite the Pacers’ recent success, history favors Denver in this matchup. The Nuggets have won eight straight meetings against Indiana and currently hold the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference.
Forward Aaron Gordon was one of the few bright spots in Saturday’s loss to the Lakers, finishing with 24 points on 9-of-15 shooting, including 4-of-7 from three-point range. Gordon has significantly improved his perimeter shooting this season, hitting 42.7 percent from deep compared to 29 percent last year.
Jamal Murray praised Gordon’s all-around contributions.

“It’s not just his three,” Murray said. “His three, obviously, maybe got a little bit better, but I think just his entire game. Where he picks his spots, how much he gets to the rim, free throws. He’s always having a very complete game.”
Will the Nuggets begin a new winning streak, or will the Pacers continue their climb up the Eastern Conference standings?
