The Pacers Can Win If…

With a 119-105 victory over the Hornets on Wednesday, the Pacers improved to 45-31 for the season. Indiana was favored by 15 points at home but didn’t cover the spread. The game’s total points of 224 just edged past the 223.5 O/U line.

Charlotte’s 10-0 run early on threatened to make things interesting, but Indiana responded by holding the Hornets to 20 points in the 2nd quarter. The Pacers then took control by outscoring Charlotte 34-28 in the 3rd, entering the 4th with an 87-73 lead. Both teams scored 32 points in the final quarter.

The Lean

We’re putting our money on the Pacers to win, and have the projected score sitting at 130-90. We also like them to cover the spread, so our recommendation is to bet on the Pacers at -16.

Regarding the over/under, the current line is set at 235.5, and our model predicts the Jazz and Pacers to score a combined 220 points. We recommend betting on the under.

Pacers look to stay hot against struggling Jazz

The Indiana Pacers are riding momentum into a Friday night showdown against the Utah Jazz, a team spiraling toward a tough season finish. While this game might not top TV ratings, it holds serious implications for the playoff picture.

With six games left, the Pacers (45-31) are trying to lock in the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference, securing home-court advantage in the first round. That edge could be crucial, especially for a team that thrives at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

“We’re still trying to get home-court advantage,” said star guard Tyrese Haliburton. “It’s cool that we clinched, but we want that top four. It’s important for our rhythm, our comfort, and for keeping a routine.”

Indiana made easy work of the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday, winning 119-105. It was their eighth win in 10 games. Haliburton led with 22 points and 10 assists, and Pascal Siakam added 15 points on his birthday. Still, the Hornets kept it closer than the final score might suggest.

“We thought we’d be up 20 early and relax,” Siakam said. “It never works like that in this league.”

Utah sliding toward rock bottom

The Jazz (16-61) have dropped seven in a row and 17 of their last 18. They were steamrolled 143-105 by the Houston Rockets on Wednesday, a game where they were outrebounded 63-39 and hit just 25 percent from deep.

Rookie Isaiah Collier did his best with 22 points and 10 assists, but Coach Will Hardy expressed disappointment in the team’s physicality.

“They had their way with us at the rim,” Hardy said. “It’s easy to just look at the score, but we need to understand why it happened and fix it.”

For a young roster focused on development, games like Friday’s against Indiana are about learning and improving. Still, with Utah already owning the league’s worst record, the season has largely turned into a growth project.

Previous meeting and what’s next

The last time these two met, Indiana barely escaped with a 112-111 win on February 3 in Salt Lake City. Siakam had 22, including 10 in the fourth quarter, helping seal the road victory.

After this matchup, Indiana hosts another low-tier opponent in the Washington Wizards. These “trap games” can be dangerous for a team with playoff seeding on the line, and Indiana knows they can’t afford slip-ups.
