Knicks Managing Injuries, Still Competing
The Knicks (44-26) have remained competitive despite missing All-Star Jalen Brunson, who has now sat out eight games with a sprained right ankle. Head coach Tom Thibodeau praised his team’s ability to fill the void collectively, and the results have been encouraging: a 4-4 record in Brunson’s absence, including Saturday’s 122-103 win over the Wizards.
New York is also without guard Miles McBride (groin), who had performed well in a fill-in starting role, and Mitchell Robinson (ankle) remains questionable, though he’s nearing full strength after missing most of the season.
Veteran leaders OG Anunoby and Karl-Anthony Towns continue to steady the ship, but the Knicks know they need to maintain momentum with playoff seeding on the line.
Davis Returns, Mavericks Eye Win Streak
The Mavericks (37-39) arrive in New York following a much-needed 120-101 win over the Nets on Monday, giving them consecutive victories for the first time since early February. It was also Anthony Davis’ return after a lengthy absence due to an adductor strain. He logged 12 points, six rebounds, and three assists in 20 minutes.
While Davis is expected to rest Tuesday on the back-to-back, his presence is key to Dallas’ hopes of securing a Western Conference play-in spot. Dallas is currently tied with the Suns for the 10th and final play-in position.
With Kyrie Irving out for the season and multiple rotation players sidelined, Dallas is leaning on depth. Naji Marshall led a balanced scoring attack against Brooklyn with 22 points, and the Mavericks had seven players finish in double figures.

What’s at Stake
The Knicks are holding onto third place in the Eastern Conference but have little room for error with teams like Cleveland and Milwaukee close behind. Every win is crucial for home-court advantage in the first round.
Dallas, meanwhile, is just trying to survive. A win would match their longest winning streak since acquiring Davis and provide a huge boost with just a handful of games remaining.
