Thunder Seek 11th Straight Win as Undermanned Pistons Come to Town
The Oklahoma City Thunder continue to blaze through the NBA season, and they’ll look to extend their 10-game winning streak Wednesday night when they host a depleted Detroit Pistons squad. While OKC is chasing franchise history and playoff dominance, Detroit finds itself hampered by suspensions, injuries, and a young roster still searching for identity.
Coming off a dominant 145-117 victory over the Bulls, the Thunder (63-12) not only clinched the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference but also secured the NBA record for most wins against the opposing conference — a staggering 28-1 mark against the East.

“We treat every game like it’s worth something. It shows,” said Thunder sharpshooter Isaiah Joe, who dropped 31 points in Monday’s win and is shooting over 53 percent from three over the past eight games.
With one more victory, Oklahoma City will tie the franchise’s all-time single-season wins record, set by the 1995-96 Seattle SuperSonics. Every game now serves as a building block toward potentially historic heights — and the Pistons are the next hurdle.
Pistons Shorthanded After Heated Clash
Detroit (15-61) enters Wednesday’s matchup not only short on wins but also short on bodies. After a heated altercation with Minnesota on Sunday, the Pistons will be without Isaiah Stewart (two-game suspension), Ron Holland II, and Marcus Sasser (one-game suspensions). Coach J.B. Bickerstaff, who was ejected from that game, stood by his team’s unity.
“I thought our guys stood their ground and defended each other, had each other’s backs,” Bickerstaff said. “Those are non-negotiables in our locker room.”
Detroit’s situation is further complicated by injuries. Cade Cunningham, the team’s centerpiece, is listed as doubtful with a calf injury, though the Pistons are 3-1 without him in recent games. Tobias Harris is probable after missing two contests with an Achilles issue.
Despite the losses, Bickerstaff emphasized the team’s respect for Cunningham and how his leadership fuels their fight.
“He has earned so much of their respect in putting this team together,” Bickerstaff said. “He leads in so many ways. He has captured so many of the guys’ spirits.”
Different Directions, Same Opponent
This is the second meeting in less than a month between the two teams. Oklahoma City edged out a 113-107 win in Detroit on March 15 — a game that saw Cunningham ejected, prompting Bickerstaff to voice frustrations about league officiating.

The contrast between the two franchises couldn’t be clearer. Oklahoma City is flourishing behind stars like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and rising contributors like Isaiah Joe, who has emerged as one of the league’s most efficient shooters. Meanwhile, Detroit is still weathering growing pains and searching for consistency amid a string of setbacks.
