Back-in-Form Heat Look to Take Down Struggling 76ers
After enduring a brutal 10-game losing streak through much of March, the Miami Heat have suddenly found their rhythm again—and they’re aiming to ride that momentum straight into the postseason picture. On Saturday, Miami looks for its fourth straight win as it heads to Philadelphia to take on the spiraling 76ers.
The Heat (32-41) have flipped the switch, bouncing back with three consecutive double-digit victories. The most recent came Thursday in a 122-112 win over the Atlanta Hawks, where Tyler Herro exploded for 36 points on an ultra-efficient 13-of-17 shooting night. Bam Adebayo chipped in with a double-double and contributed on both ends of the floor to help keep Miami right on the heels of the Bulls for ninth place in the Eastern Conference.
“We didn’t let go of the rope,” Adebayo said following the win. “We’ve been preaching that since we’ve been on that 10-game losing streak. You never know what can happen. We didn’t let go, and now we’re streaking.”
With just a handful of games left in the regular season, the ninth and tenth seeds in the East are on a collision course for a play-in tournament showdown, making every win from here on out a crucial one.

Head coach Erik Spoelstra praised Herro’s offensive instincts after Thursday’s win, pointing out that none of Herro’s points came from set plays—just pure, in-the-flow execution.
“He’s learning how to manipulate when guys are really being aggressive with him,” Spoelstra said. “That’s great growth to see.”
Herro’s development has been a bright spot in an otherwise up-and-down campaign for the Heat. He’s averaging a career-best 23.6 points per game and shooting a personal-high 46.7 percent from the field. He’s also knocked down 10 of his last 15 three-point attempts, showing elite efficiency at just the right time.
76ers on the Brink of Elimination
While Miami is surging, the Philadelphia 76ers (23-50) are nearing the end of a nightmare season. Plagued by injuries to key players and a revolving door of lineups, the Sixers have lost six straight and are just one defeat away from officially being eliminated from playoff contention.
Their most recent loss—a 119-114 home stumble to the Washington Wizards—showcased their ongoing defensive struggles. The team allowed 45 points in the opening quarter and never fully recovered.
“We chased it uphill for most of the game,” Sixers coach Nick Nurse said. “Closed it down a couple of times, (but then it) got away from us again.”
Despite the chaos, Philadelphia has gotten strong performances from its young players, particularly rookie Justin Edwards. The undrafted Kentucky product posted his first career double-double against Washington, tallying 19 points and 10 rebounds. He’s now scored in double figures in seven straight games and is showing promise amid the Sixers’ rebuilding efforts.
“We really need him to keep doing that,” teammate Guerschon Yabusele said. “Especially at the time we’re at right now, we really need to keep pushing.”
The Heat have already claimed the first two matchups in the season series against the 76ers, and they’ll have a chance to sweep it when the teams meet again on April 7 in Miami.
