Thunder Chase 60 Wins, Visit Struggling Kings Tuesday Night
The Oklahoma City Thunder continue their pursuit of a 60-win season as they visit the slumping Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night in what could be a first-round playoff preview.
Thunder Eye Franchise Milestone
With the top seed in the Western Conference already secured, the Thunder (59-12) are focused on history. A victory in Sacramento would make them just the fifth team in franchise history to win 60 games and the first since the 2012-13 squad led by Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.
Oklahoma City enters on a six-game winning streak and has 11 games remaining to chase the franchise record of 64 wins, set by the Seattle SuperSonics in 1995-96. That same SuperSonics team remains the benchmark for regular-season success, but the current Thunder core has shown no signs of slowing.
Sunday’s 103-101 road win over the Clippers demonstrated OKC’s depth and resilience. MVP frontrunner Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 26 points, and Isaiah Hartenstein notched a double-double. Starting in place of injured regulars, Alex Caruso contributed across the board with 14 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals.
With both Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren nursing hip injuries, the Thunder’s supporting cast continues to elevate their level of play.

Kings Skid Continues as Playoff Pressure Builds
The Kings (35-36) are in the midst of a crucial seven-game homestand but have dropped the first three, including Monday night’s 113-95 loss to the Celtics. They now find themselves clinging to ninth place in the Western Conference, just a half-game ahead of the Mavericks and Suns.
Head coach Doug Christie didn’t mince words after back-to-back losses to Milwaukee and Boston, pointing to inefficiency on both ends of the floor. Sacramento allowed Boston to hit 19 3-pointers while continuing to struggle offensively themselves, shooting just 24 percent from deep two nights earlier.
Christie emphasized the need for simplicity and consistency, especially against elite teams like Oklahoma City.
Season Series and Playoff Implications
The Thunder have thoroughly dominated the Kings in both prior meetings this season, with wins by 21 and 34 points. Tuesday’s matchup closes the regular-season series and could further shake up the playoff race depending on Sacramento’s response.
As Oklahoma City tunes up for what it hopes will be a deep postseason run, Sacramento is trying to avoid falling into a precarious play-in position with limited margin for error.
