Regarding the over/under, the current line is set at 225.5, and our model predicts the Nets and Spurs to score a combined 239 points. We recommend betting on the over.
Nets Look to Snap Four-Game Skid Against Struggling Spurs
The Brooklyn Nets and San Antonio Spurs meet Tuesday night in a matchup between two teams desperate for a win. The Nets enter on a four-game losing streak, while the Spurs have dropped five of their last six games, struggling without their young star Victor Wembanyama, who was ruled out for the season with deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder.
Both teams need a turnaround, and with playoff hopes fading fast, this game is a prime opportunity for one side to get back on track.
Nets Searching for Offense After Dismal Shooting Night
Brooklyn’s latest loss came in Detroit on Saturday, a 115-94 defeat against the Pistons in which they shot just 30.5 percent (29 of 95) from the field and a season-worst 15.4 percent (6 of 39) from three-point range.
Cameron Johnson endured a brutal night, missing all 10 of his three-point attempts and snapping a 60-game streak with at least one made three-pointer.
“Obviously, we struggled to shoot, and it’s hard to win a basketball game when you shoot like this,” head coach Jordi Fernandez said. “We will keep shooting—that means the next game we’re going to make more.”
There were some positives despite the offensive collapse. Brooklyn’s defensive aggression forced 23 turnovers, leading to 24 points. But without better efficiency from deep, the Nets will continue to struggle, especially on the road.
The team played without leading scorer Cam Thomas and D’Angelo Russell, both dealing with injuries. Thomas is expected to return for this game, while Russell remains questionable after missing the last several contests with a sprained right ankle.
In a surprising move, the Nets also parted ways with point guard Killian Hayes, opting not to re-sign him to a second 10-day contract after he started their last five games.
Brooklyn will need more from its offense to avoid a fifth straight loss, but the Spurs—despite their struggles—won’t make it easy.
Spurs Struggling Without Wembanyama, But Still Competing
San Antonio comes into the game after a 146-132 home loss to Oklahoma City on Sunday. Even without their injured superstar, the Spurs showed flashes of offensive firepower, led by rookie Stephon Castle’s 32-point effort off the bench—just one point shy of his career-high.
De’Aaron Fox, playing in his first true home game since his trade to San Antonio, scored 20 points, while Jeremy Sochan (17 points), Devin Vassell (15), and Harrison Barnes (14) also contributed.
Fox, however, was frustrated with the Spurs’ defensive performance, noting that their 132-point effort should have been enough to win had they defended better.
“We scored 132 points—that’s enough to win every game in a season, but you can’t give up 146 and expect to win,” Fox said.
San Antonio hit a franchise-record 16 three-pointers in the first half but couldn’t sustain that momentum, running out of gas in the second half. Interim head coach Mitch Johnson emphasized that they need to focus on defense and rebounding, especially when their offense isn’t flowing.

“We made a lot of shots, and at some point, we stopped scoring a little bit,” Johnson said. “That’s where you have to put your energy at getting the stops and getting the rebounds and not turning the ball over.”
The Spurs won the first meeting between these teams on Dec. 27, holding Brooklyn to just 87 points in a 96-87 road victory. However, with no Wembanyama this time, the Spurs will need other players to step up defensively to replicate that success.
Key Matchups to Watch
Cam Thomas’ return is a major boost for Brooklyn, but how he fares against San Antonio’s athletic perimeter defenders will be key. Thomas is Brooklyn’s best scorer, but if the Spurs can force him into tough shots, the Nets may continue their offensive woes.
De’Aaron Fox will be the engine for San Antonio, and Brooklyn’s backcourt defense will have to step up to slow him down. With Russell’s status uncertain, Brooklyn may struggle to contain San Antonio’s faster pace and transition offense.
Stephon Castle’s breakout game against Oklahoma City makes him a potential X-factor, especially with Wembanyama out. If Castle can provide consistent scoring, the Spurs may have the edge.

Who Has the Edge?
Both teams are in slumps, making this a hard game to predict. The Spurs have home-court advantage, but Brooklyn will get a much-needed scoring boost with Cam Thomas back.
San Antonio has been better offensively, but their defensive lapses and lack of rim protection without Wembanyama leave them vulnerable. If Brooklyn can find its shooting touch, the Nets should be able to break their skid.
However, the Spurs’ ability to push the pace and score efficiently could make things difficult for the Nets, especially if Russell remains out.
Will Brooklyn’s offense bounce back, or will San Antonio take advantage of its home floor and hand the Nets their fifth straight loss? Tuesday’s game is a must-win for both teams trying to salvage their seasons.
