Raptors Look to Snap Losing Streak Against Injury-Plagued Warriors
The Toronto Raptors, mired in a five-game losing streak, will try to turn things around when they host the Golden State Warriors on Monday night. Both teams are struggling, with the Raptors dropping 16 of their last 17 games and the Warriors dealing with key injuries.
Raptors Seeking Consistency
Toronto fell short in a 123-114 loss to the Detroit Pistons on Saturday, a game that was tied at 109-109 with just over five minutes left. The Raptors struggled to close out, allowing Detroit to shoot 52.4 percent from the field, including a scorching 57.6 percent from 3-point range (19-for-33).

Head coach Darko Rajakovic emphasized the need for better execution.
“We always say that this league is a make-or-miss league, and tonight they made more shots than us,” Rajakovic said.
Toronto’s offensive output wasn’t enough to compensate, shooting 43.5 percent from the field and struggling from the free-throw line at 66.7 percent (18-for-27).
Immanuel Quickley led the Raptors with 25 points, while Scottie Barnes contributed 16 points and 12 rebounds. Bench players Chris Boucher (14 points) and Bruce Brown (14 points) provided solid support.
Rajakovic also praised rookie Jamal Shead, who was a +17 in under 17 minutes of action.
“I’m really satisfied with his development this year,” Rajakovic said.
Warriors Battling Injuries
Golden State is coming off a 108-96 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Friday, playing without stars Stephen Curry (knee), Draymond Green (back), and several other key contributors. The Warriors have dropped three of their last four games, leaving them searching for consistency on this four-game road trip.
Pat Spencer stepped up with a career-high 17 points off the bench, but head coach Steve Kerr acknowledged the uphill battle.
“Short-handed, back-to-back, guys did a great job of hanging in there,” Kerr said. “We just needed to have a stretch, make three or four 3s in a row to get over the hump.”
The Warriors could see the return of Gary Payton II on Monday, but the statuses of Andrew Wiggins, Jonathan Kuminga, and others remain uncertain.
Key Matchup: Raptors’ Defense vs. Warriors’ Offense
The Raptors will need to tighten their perimeter defense after allowing Detroit to shoot the lights out from beyond the arc. Golden State, even without Curry, has dangerous 3-point shooters and thrives in transition.
Toronto’s bench, led by Boucher, Brown, and Shead, could play a pivotal role against a Warriors squad relying on contributions from role players like Spencer and Buddy Hield.
What’s at Stake
For Toronto, snapping this losing streak is critical to building confidence and maintaining relevance in the standings. The Warriors, on the other hand, need to avoid falling further below .500 as they await the return of their stars.
Monday’s game will be the first of two meetings this season between the teams, who split their two-game series last year. With both teams eager to find a spark, this matchup could provide much-needed momentum heading into the rest of their schedules.
