Jazz Look to Sweep L.A. Teams as Clippers Come to Town
The Utah Jazz are riding high after a 131-119 win over the Los Angeles Lakers, but they won’t have much time to celebrate as they face the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night in Salt Lake City.
It’s a quick turnaround for both teams, with the Clippers also playing the second game of a back-to-back after their 128-114 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.
For the Jazz, it’s a chance to win consecutive games for only the third time this season, while the Clippers look to continue their momentum before heading into the All-Star break.
Utah’s Bounce-Back Win Over Lakers
After a 19-point loss to the Lakers on Monday, Utah responded with a statement performance on Wednesday.
Lauri Markkanen led the way with 32 points, outshining LeBron James, Luka Doncic, and the rest of the Lakers’ star-studded lineup. Jordan Clarkson chipped in 21 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists, while Walker Kessler had a perfect shooting night, scoring 16 points on 8-of-8 shooting with eight rebounds and six blocks.
Utah coach Will Hardy praised his team’s energy and execution:
“It’s a really good bounce-back win. Our effort, tenacity, competitiveness, and just the fly-around factor was different tonight than in the last game.”
Clippers Look to Repeat Success Against Jazz
The Clippers dominated Utah 130-110 last Saturday in Los Angeles, thanks to 26-point performances from Ivica Zubac and Norman Powell. Zubac also grabbed 15 rebounds, taking full advantage of Utah’s interior defense.
L.A. will have a fresh face in the lineup, as Bogdan Bogdanovic made his Clippers debut on Wednesday after being acquired from the Atlanta Hawks. He scored seven points in 18 minutes and is expected to play a bigger role as he adjusts to his new team.
What’s at Stake?
The Clippers (35-17) have won two straight after a brief slump, while the Jazz (13-38) are trying to win consecutive games for just the third time all season.
Can Utah keep its momentum rolling and take down another L.A. powerhouse, or will the Clippers dominate them once again?
Expect high energy and playoff-like intensity in this final game before the All-Star break.
