The Lean
Our bet is on the Nets for a win, and we project the score to be 93-76. Additionally, we expect them to cover the spread, so our recommendation is to wager on the Nets with the spread at -3.5.
Right now, the over/under line for the game is sitting at 214.5 and given that our model is projecting 169 points between the teams, we like the under.
Wizards Look to Defeat Nets Again to End Skid
The Washington Wizards will attempt to end their six-game losing streak on Monday when they host the Brooklyn Nets in Washington, D.C.
The Wizards previously secured a 119-102 road victory over the Nets on Feb. 5, marking the end of their longest winning streak of the season. Seven Washington players scored in double figures in that game. However, the team has since lost six straight, including a 110-90 defeat against Orlando on Sunday.
Washington Battling Injuries and Struggles
Washington continues to struggle with injuries, as Malcolm Brogdon missed Sunday’s contest with an ankle injury. Khris Middleton, acquired in the trade that sent Kyle Kuzma to Milwaukee, was also sidelined with his own ankle issue.
“We won’t use inexperience as an excuse around here,” Wizards coach Brian Keefe said. “Lessons to be learned; come out better in the third quarter.”
The Wizards’ current skid is their third-longest of the season, following two 16-game losing streaks that spanned from Nov. 2 to Dec. 5 and Jan. 3 to 30. Their 90-point performance on Sunday was their lowest output since scoring just 82 against Toronto during their January slump.
Nets Gaining Momentum
Brooklyn rebounded from its February loss to Washington by winning four of its last five games, including a dramatic 105-103 buzzer-beating victory over Philadelphia on Saturday. Nic Claxton’s put-back at the horn sealed the win and continued the Nets’ recent surge.
“He’s been working really hard,” Brooklyn coach Jordi Fernandez said of Claxton. “It was a little bit of an up-and-down (season). Right now, consistently, he’s been getting better and better and better, being the anchor of the defense.”
Claxton, who finished with 16 points on Saturday, has reached double figures in four of Brooklyn’s last five games. He has also grabbed at least nine rebounds in that stretch, boosting his season averages to 10.2 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.
Defensively, Brooklyn ranks eighth in the NBA, allowing just 110.8 points per game. Meanwhile, Washington has struggled all season on that end, surrendering an NBA-worst 121.4 points per game.
Offensive Challenges for Both Teams
While Brooklyn has excelled defensively, its offense has been inconsistent. The Nets rank 29th in the league in scoring at 104.9 points per game, surpassing that mark only twice in their last nine contests. However, they have held six of their last nine opponents below 100 points.

Washington’s offense is also limited following Kuzma’s departure. Jordan Poole leads the team with 21 points per game, the only Wizard averaging more than 13 points. Bilal Coulibaly follows with just over 12 points per game.
Brooklyn’s Cam Thomas, averaging 24.7 points, has not played since Jan. 2, but Cameron Johnson, putting up 19.1 points per game, led the Nets with 23 in their win over Philadelphia.
Can the Wizards end their skid, or will the surging Nets continue their push for a play-in berth?
