Baylor Seeks 7th Straight Win in Series vs. West Virginia
Baylor looks to extend its dominance over West Virginia when the two Big 12 rivals clash on Saturday in Waco, Texas. The Bears have won the last six meetings, the longest streak in series history.
Baylor Adjusting After Key Injury
The Bears (15-9, 7-6 Big 12) enter the matchup following a 76-65 loss to No. 6 Houston on Monday, their first game without Josh Ojianwuna, who suffered a season-ending knee injury last week. His absence was felt, as Baylor grabbed just four offensive rebounds in the game.

“Without Josh, we’ve got to figure out a way to get to the glass a little bit more,” Baylor coach Scott Drew said.
The Bears will rely more on Norchad Omier, who had just five rebounds against Houston after posting 12+ boards in five of his previous six games.
West Virginia’s Offense Runs Through Small
West Virginia (15-9, 6-7) is coming off a 73-69 loss to BYU on Tuesday, where Javon Small had a quiet night. The Mountaineers’ leading scorer (18.5 PPG) managed just nine points on four shot attempts, though he contributed nine assists.
“At times, there’s only so much you can do if you want to commit two people to him all the time,” Mountaineers coach Darian DeVries said. “Now you’ve got to take what they give you.”
Edgecombe Shining for Baylor
While Baylor is dealing with injuries, they still have a red-hot VJ Edgecombe leading the offense. He has scored in double figures in 10 straight games, including a 30-point outburst against Kansas State on Jan. 22.
“He’s playing terrific,” DeVries said of Edgecombe. “When you watch the film, his speed just stands out, especially on the open floor. It’s impressive. There’s a reason he’s so highly thought of on the NBA draft boards.”
Who Has the Edge?
Baylor has dominated this series recently, but without Ojianwuna, rebounding will be a major concern. West Virginia’s ability to contain Edgecombe and get Small back on track will be key to snapping the Bears’ streak.
