Notre Dame will look to complete a season sweep of Boston College when the two struggling ACC teams clash Wednesday night in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
Fighting Irish Looking to Snap Skid
Notre Dame (10-13, 4-8 ACC) enters the contest on a three-game losing streak, despite holding double-digit leads in each of those losses. The latest setback came on Saturday when the Fighting Irish shot just 28.6 percent in the second half and fell 65-63 at home against Virginia Tech.

“It’s my group,” Notre Dame coach Micah Shrewsberry said. “I gotta figure out how we can score better down the stretch, how we can get stops down the stretch. Gotta get back on the horse. Gotta play again.”
Sophomore Markus Burton continues to be a bright spot, averaging 20.6 points per game. He scored 20 in Notre Dame’s 78-60 win over Boston College on Jan. 13, and if he had played enough games to qualify, he would be the ACC’s leading scorer.
Boston College Searching for Answers
Boston College (10-13, 2-10) has lost eight of its last nine games, but it has been competitive at home, where it holds a 7-6 record. The Eagles are coming off a grueling 95-86 triple-overtime loss to Syracuse on Saturday.
Donald Hand Jr. has been BC’s offensive catalyst, scoring 104 points over his last four games, including 28 against Syracuse. He made five 3-pointers and tallied 17 points in the Eagles’ earlier loss to Notre Dame.
“It’s still about pursuing the best version of ourself,” BC coach Earl Grant said. “Trying to become the best offensive team we can be, and staying connected on defense, and build our defense to where we can get the stops that we need.”
Boston College is currently tied with NC State for 16th place in the ACC, and only 15 teams qualify for the conference tournament. A win against Notre Dame would be crucial for the Eagles’ slim postseason hopes.
Can Notre Dame Close the Deal This Time?
The Fighting Irish have let leads slip away in recent games, but they’ve already handled BC once this season. Will Notre Dame secure the sweep, or can the Eagles defend their home court and pick up a much-needed win?
