Freshman standout Egor Demin led BYU with 16 points on 7-of-20 shooting. As the team’s second-leading scorer at 11.0 points per game, Demin is expected to play a key role moving forward. Coach Kevin Young wants his young star to stay aggressive while refining his shot selection.
“We’ve talked to him about being more aggressive for sure,” Young said. “He forced a couple off the dribble, but we like him being aggressive. He’s at his best getting downhill and getting to the rim.”
Dallin Hall also stepped up with 11 points and six assists off the bench. Young is hopeful Hall can maintain that level of play moving forward.
“That’s the Dallin we want,” Young said. “If we can bottle that up and pull that out of him, that will pay huge dividends for us.”
Cincinnati Looking for Momentum
Cincinnati snapped a four-game losing streak with a 93-83 victory over UCF on Wednesday. Guard Day Day Thomas had his best game of the season, scoring 20 points and dishing out six assists—well above his season average of 7.8 points per game.
“It’s been a tough stretch for us the last month,” Bearcats coach Wes Miller said. “We haven’t had nights where we’ve put it all together and have a bunch of guys play like we expect them to play.”
Cincinnati has a balanced scoring attack led by Simas Lukosius (11.8 ppg), Dillon Mitchell (10.7 ppg, 6.6 rpg), Jizzle James (10.5 ppg, 3.9 apg), and Dan Skillings Jr. (10.3 ppg). The Bearcats will need a complete effort to secure back-to-back wins.
Who Has the Edge in This Big 12 Battle?
With both teams looking to solidify their standing in the Big 12, this matchup could prove pivotal. Will BYU bounce back with a strong road performance, or can Cincinnati build momentum after breaking its losing streak?
