No. 21 Missouri Aims to Regain Home Dominance Against Struggling Oklahoma
Missouri has been nearly unstoppable at home this season, but after suffering its first loss at Mizzou Arena, the Tigers are eager to re-establish their dominance. On Wednesday, they’ll get their chance against an Oklahoma squad searching for answers in SEC play.

Missouri Looks to Bounce Back After Tough Losses
The Tigers (17-6, 6-4 SEC) were rolling at home, posting a perfect 15-0 record until Saturday’s 67-64 loss to then-No. 10 Texas A&M. That defeat, combined with an earlier 85-81 road loss at then-No. 4 Tennessee, dropped Missouri six spots in the latest AP rankings from No. 15 to No. 21.
Coach Dennis Gates isn’t overly concerned, though.
“The ironic thing about this conference: You can play well and still lose a game,” Gates said. “We lost our last two games by a total of seven points—to two top-10 teams. One on a last-second shot, last-second 3.”
Still, there’s room for improvement. Against Texas A&M, Missouri struggled from deep, making just 5 of 21 three-point attempts. Caleb Grill, the Tigers’ best shooter from beyond the arc (47.7%), went 0-for-4.
Missouri’s Key Players:
- Tamar Bates – 14.0 PPG
- Caleb Grill – 12.6 PPG, 47.7% 3PT
- Mark Mitchell – 12.3 PPG
Missouri needs a better shooting performance to get back in the win column.
Oklahoma Searching for Answers in SEC Play
The Sooners (16-7, 3-7 SEC) are in a slump, losing five of their last six conference games. Their last two matchups were particularly brutal, suffering a 98-70 blowout at No. 1 Auburn and a 70-52 home loss to then-No. 4 Tennessee.
After a promising nonconference run that included wins over two ranked teams, Oklahoma has struggled in league play.
Jalen Moore has been a bright spot, leading the Sooners with 17.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. Jeremiah Fears (15.5 PPG, 4.0 APG) and Duke Miles (10.3 PPG) add additional scoring depth.
Despite dealing with a thigh injury, Fears played through pain against Tennessee, showing his toughness.
“He hadn’t had any reps the last two days,” Moser said. “He gutted it out and really tried to be there for his teammates.”
Oklahoma’s Key Players:
- Jalen Moore – 17.7 PPG, 5.7 RPG
- Jeremiah Fears – 15.5 PPG, 4.0 APG
- Duke Miles – 10.3 PPG7
What’s at Stake?
Missouri is looking to avoid its first three-game losing streak of the season, while Oklahoma is desperate for a statement win to turn its season around.
Missouri has been dominant at home, and despite their recent struggles, the Tigers remain tough to beat at Mizzou Arena. The Sooners will need to bring their best effort to have a shot at pulling off the upset.
