Brice Williams, Nebraska Look to Stay Hot vs. No. 25 Maryland
Nebraska looked like a long shot for the NCAA Tournament after a six-game skid in January, but Brice Williams has changed the narrative. The fifth-year guard has led the Cornhuskers on a four-game winning streak, and they’ll aim to keep the momentum going when No. 25 Maryland visits Lincoln on Thursday night.

Williams Leading Nebraska’s Turnaround
Williams has caught fire, posting four straight 20-point performances, including 24 in Sunday’s 79-71 win over Ohio State. His recent stretch includes a pair of ranked wins over Illinois and Oregon, earning him AP National Player of the Week honors.
“He’s just making the right plays,” Nebraska coach Fred Hoiberg said. “He’s playing arguably as well as anybody. He’s doing it without being selfish. He’s just making winning plays.”
Nebraska (16-8, 6-7 Big Ten) now sits in ESPN’s “Last Four Byes” as a No. 10 seed in its latest bracket projection. A win over Maryland would boost their tournament resume with another Quad 1 victory.
Maryland’s Balanced Attack
Maryland (18-6, 8-5) has won four of its last five, including a 90-81 win over Rutgers on Sunday. Freshman standout Derik Queen led the way with a career-high 29 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists.
“He’s been the best player in the Big Ten for the last month, hands down,” Maryland coach Kevin Willard said.
The Terrapins boast five players averaging double figures, including Ja’Kobi Gillespie (14.3 ppg), Rodney Rice (13.2 ppg), Selton Miguel (11.5 ppg), and Julian Reese (13.7 ppg, 9.0 rpg). Reese, who struggled against Rutgers, had 10 rebounds and four blocks in Maryland’s 69-66 win over Nebraska on Jan. 19.
Can Nebraska Get Revenge?
Maryland edged Nebraska in their first meeting thanks to Gillespie’s 22 points and strong defense. Williams led Nebraska with 14 points, while Andrew Morgan added a season-high 17 off the bench.
With both teams fighting for seeding, this rematch could be pivotal. Can Williams and Nebraska keep their hot streak alive, or will Maryland’s depth prove too much?
