Wake Forest Dominates Georgia Tech to Cap Regular Season
Wake Forest Ends Regular Season in Style With Blowout Win Over Georgia Tech
On Senior Day in Winston-Salem, Wake Forest made a statement. Cameron Hildreth, Efton Reid III, and Hunter Sallis led a balanced attack as the Demon Deacons dismantled Georgia Tech 69-43 in their final regular-season game.
Wake Forest (21-10, 13-7 ACC) snapped Georgia Tech’s three-game winning streak with a dominant defensive performance, holding the Yellow Jackets to just 29.6% shooting from the field and 13% from three (3-for-23).
With their ACC Tournament seeding yet to be determined, Wake Forest likely needs a deep run in Charlotte next week to secure its first NCAA Tournament berth since 2017.
Wake Forest’s Defense Smothers Georgia Tech
Defense was the story of the night, as the Demon Deacons completely shut down Georgia Tech’s offense. The Yellow Jackets missed 10 straight shots in the first half, including nine consecutive three-point attempts. Lance Terry, who scored a career-high 31 points in his last game, was held to just three points on 1-of-8 three-point shooting. Georgia Tech never got the deficit below 16 points in the second half.
Cameron Hildreth led Wake Forest with 14 points. Efton Reid III recorded a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Hunter Sallis added 13 points. Juke Harris contributed key shots during the Demon Deacons’ first-half run.
For Georgia Tech, Baye Ndongo finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Jaeden Mustaf added 12 points.

How Wake Forest Took Control
Georgia Tech hung around early, with Lance Terry tying the game 10-10 on a three-pointer. But then the Yellow Jackets’ offense collapsed.
Georgia Tech missed 10 straight shots, allowing Wake Forest to go on a 12-1 run to take a 22-11 lead. Efton Reid III sparked the Demon Deacons with a putback slam, a jump hook, and a three-pointer to fuel a 12-0 run before halftime. Wake Forest led 34-15 at halftime, effectively putting the game out of reach.
In the second half, Georgia Tech never brought the deficit inside 16 points, while Wake Forest twice stretched its lead to 31.
ACC Tournament Seeding & What’s Next
Wake Forest’s ACC Tournament seeding depends on results later Saturday. The Demon Deacons will be seeded between No. 4 and No. 6, meaning they will avoid the first round and open play in the second round.
Georgia Tech is locked in as the No. 8 seed and will face the No. 9 seed on Wednesday at noon in Charlotte.

Final Thoughts: Can Wake Forest Make a Run?
The Demon Deacons looked locked in defensively, and if they carry this momentum into the ACC Tournament, they could be a dangerous team. With NCAA Tournament hopes on the line, Wake Forest needs at least one, if not two, wins in Charlotte to strengthen its March Madness résumé.
Can Wake Forest continue its dominance, or will its ACC Tournament run fall short? Next week will determine whether the Demon Deacons finally return to the Big Dance.
