Just like with Week 12, the 13th Week of the College Football season showcases some exciting small-conference matchups that could be previews to their respective title games. Week 13 also features a big-time showdown between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Oklahoma Sooners, along with some long-time West Coast rivalry games.

The MAC Conference and Conference USA will showcase matchups between the top two schools of each conference against each other. The Northern Illinois Huskies will battle the Miami (OH) Redhawks for MAC supremacy, while the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and Liberty Flames collide for the top spot in the Conference USA.

Also in Week 13, four former Pac-12 schools will take to their new conferences to engage in long-time rivalries. Stanford and California will play for the 118th time, but it will take place in the ACC Conference. USC and UCLA will battle for the 92nd time, but it will take place in the Big Ten Conference.

All of those matchups will be the appetizers for the main course of Alabama and Oklahoma battling to remain near the top of the SEC Conference and a possible spot in the title game. Additionally, both schools will also try to remain in contention for a College Football Playoff spot and possibly another attempt at a College Football Championship.

Best College Football Week 13 Games

As you can see above, we’ve identified the best College Football Week 13 games. Of those matchups, there are a few that really stand out as must-watch contests:

Northern Illinois Huskies vs. Miami (OH) Redhawks

The MAC Conference will be in the spotlight on a Tuesday night of Week 13. The top two projected teams heading into the season, are set to face each other in what could be a MAC Title preview.

The Huskies and Redhawks have played against each other 20 times. Miami leads this series with an 11-9 record, which includes winning the last three meetings. Prior to that streak, NIU had gone 7-1 against the Redhawks.

The Huskies are 4-1 in their last five trips to Ohio. This clearly demonstrates that NIU is very capable of pulling off a big road victory. Can Miami of Ohio win a fourth straight game in this series or will the Huskies improve to 5-1 at Ohio over the last two decades?

Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Oklahoma Sooners

The featured game of the week is an SEC clash between two of College Football’s most prominent programs – Alabama and Oklahoma.

There are questions marks surrounding both teams. However, one thing is for certain, both schools will be serious contenders in the SEC Conference along with the Longhorns and Bulldogs. Yet, both teams could have already suffered a key loss to these schools as Oklahoma faces Texas in Week 6 and Alabama plays Georgia in Week 5.

The last time these two teams played against each other was the 2018 Orange Bowl and Alabama won. That snapped a three-game winning streak for Oklahoma. Previously, four of their six meetings took place in Bowl Games. So, Oklahoma has only ever hosted the Crimson Tide on one occasion and that was a 37-27 victory in 2002.

The winner of this game could still be in line for an SEC Title game appearance or CFP spot. The loser could fall out of contention for both.

USC Trojans vs. UCLA Bruins

At first glance, it’s going to be strange seeing this longtime Pac-12 rivalry game played in the Big 10. Yet, it’s still great that these two rivals can keep the feud going. Both schools will be out of contention for the Big 10 title game by Week 13. However, when it comes to this rivalry, records don’t matter.

The two teams have alternated between wins and losses over the last four years. Albeit, the Trojans hold a large advantage in this rivalry with a 50-34-7 record. And, USC will be looking to get revenge on the Bruins for last year’s defeat.

For USC, this could also be a win that cements a Bowl Game appearance. Unfortunately for the Bruins, a loss could knock them out of contention for a Bowl.

Stanford Cardinal vs. California Golden Bears

Just like with USC vs. UCLA, this longtime Pac-12 rivalry begins a new chapter as the two schools are now playing in the ACC Conference.

Sadly, these proud institutions are both projected to be near the bottom of the conference with losing records. Although this rivalry doesn’t need winning records to be intense, a win by either school won’t mean much for their postseason aspirations. Neither Stanford nor Cal will be going to a Bowl Game.

California Golden Bears have won four of the last five meetings, including three in a row. However, Stanford holds the head-to-head advantage with a 60-47-10 record. Another nugget of data, Stanford is 6-1 in their last seven trips to Berkely.

Western Kentucky Hilltoppers vs. Liberty Flames

The battle between Western Kentucky and Liberty could be a preview to the Conference USA title game. Both schools are projected to be the top two teams in the conference, which makes this game the biggest for both programs this season.

This will be the 5th time that the Hilltoppers and Flames have played against each other. Unfortunately for WKU, Liberty has won all four meetings. The Flames won 42-29 last season. This will also be the first time that Liberty has hosted Western Kentucky since 1995. The last three matchups have all been in Kentucky.

Can the Hilltoppers finally topple the Flames or will Liberty remain undefeated in this Conference USA series?
