As for the best way to attack the over/under line, we are leaning towards the under, with a projected combined score of 45 points and the O/U line sitting at 46 points.

Trying to Overcome 0-4 Start, Jaguars Collide with Colts

The Jacksonville Jaguars are off to a rough start as the NFL’s only remaining winless team after four games. Making the playoffs after an 0-4 start is a rare feat, accomplished just once in NFL history, but the Jaguars are determined to turn things around when they host the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

Historical Challenges for Winless Teams

The 1992 San Diego Chargers are the only team to reach the playoffs after an 0-4 start, thanks to strong leadership from Hall of Fame linebacker Junior Seau and the steady hand of new coach Bobby Ross. Jacksonville, with Doug Pederson in his third season, finds itself in a similar hole, having been outscored 109-60 so far this season.

Despite the tough start, Pederson remains confident in his team’s effort and commitment.

“I talk to these guys every day. I see them every day. And no, I have not lost the locker room,” Pederson said. “These guys have done everything I’ve asked. They continue to play and practice hard and battle.”

Pederson’s Call for Elite Performance

Though Pederson has defended his players’ work ethic, he also issued a challenge to his top performers. Last week’s 24-20 loss to the Houston Texans left Pederson frustrated and calling on the team’s elite players to step up.

“We need our elite players to play elite. And that’s it,” Pederson said. “Sometimes, that’s what it comes down to. Are they going to be elite every week?”

Among those elite players is quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who signed a five-year, $275 million extension in the offseason. Lawrence has struggled to live up to those expectations so far this season, with his 53.3% completion rate ranking second-worst in the league, only ahead of Colts rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson.

Trevor Lawrence’s Struggles

Lawrence, now winless in his past nine starts, acknowledged the difficulties of the season but remains focused on improvement.

“I’ve dealt with a few of these [slumps] in my career, unfortunately. It’s never fun,” Lawrence said. “You have to be thick-skinned. You have to be persistent when you’re in a situation like this. Keep your head down and keep working.”

Colts Not Overlooking Jaguars’ Record

The Colts (2-2) come into the matchup looking to snap a nine-game road losing streak in Jacksonville. Despite the Jaguars’ winless start, Colts coach Shane Steichen isn’t underestimating the challenge.

“I don’t care that they’re 0-4,” Steichen said. “They’re a damn good football team. They’ve had some close games, obviously, that could have gone either way. And we’ve got a division opponent that we gotta go beat.”

Colts’ Quarterback Uncertainty

A major storyline for the Colts is the health of their rookie quarterback, Anthony Richardson. After exiting last week’s 27-24 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers with a hip injury, Richardson’s availability remains in question. He was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday due to an oblique issue, with veteran Joe Flacco taking most of the first-team reps.

“If [Richardson] feels good and he’s ready to go, he’ll be out there,” Steichen said.

Richardson, a Gainesville native who played at the University of Florida, is eager to play in his home state, but his status will be a game-time decision.

Jonathan Taylor and Key Colts Injuries

Adding to the Colts’ concerns, star running back Jonathan Taylor (ankle) could also be unavailable for Sunday’s game. Taylor, who ranks fifth in the NFL with 349 rushing yards, is crucial to the Colts’ offense but missed practice on Wednesday. Center Ryan Kelly (neck), linebacker Zaire Franklin (illness), and defensive end Kwity Paye (quadricep) were among six other Colts who did not practice.

Jaguars’ Injury Concerns

The Jaguars are also dealing with significant injuries. Defensive end Josh Hines-Allen remains in concussion protocol after being injured in last week’s game against the Texans. Linebacker Devin Lloyd (knee) also missed practice, while tight end Evan Engram (hamstring), who has missed the last three games, was a limited participant in Wednesday’s session.
