Fresh Off Rout, Hurricanes Bid to ‘Turn the Page’ vs. Ducks
The Carolina Hurricanes will look to bounce back from a tough loss when they take on the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday night. The Hurricanes recently had their eight-game winning streak snapped by the Los Angeles Kings, who dealt them a resounding 7-2 defeat on Saturday.
Carolina (42-23-4; 88 points) will be playing the second of back-to-back games as they head to Anaheim. Meanwhile, the Ducks (30-31-8; 68 points) are coming off a solid 4-1 win over the Nashville Predators on Thursday night.

Hurricanes Look to Regain Momentum
The Hurricanes had been on a roll before their lopsided loss to the Kings, where they found themselves down 3-0 after one period and 6-0 midway through the second. Defenseman Dmitry Orlov and forward Mark Jankowski each scored a goal, while Pyotr Kochetkov made 18 saves. Jankowski’s tally marked his fifth goal in six games since joining Carolina.
Coach Rod Brind’Amour acknowledged the need to move past the defeat:
“You have to turn the page,” Brind’Amour said. “There’s areas where we want to keep getting better at. There’s reasons they scored as many goals as they did. We gave up too much. We created enough offense. It’s turning the page and making sure we don’t let the bad vibes out of this game leak into the next one.”
The Hurricanes were without center Jordan Staal (lower-body injury) and defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere (illness). Additionally, forward Seth Jarvis left the game in the third period after a hard hit, but initial reports suggest his injury may not be serious.

Ducks Looking to Build on Win
The Anaheim Ducks are fighting to keep their slim playoff hopes alive and will be aiming to win consecutive games for the first time since February. The Ducks secured a 4-1 victory against the Nashville Predators on Thursday, thanks to the return of goaltender John Gibson, who made 33 saves after missing seven games with a lower-body injury.
“Amazing,” said forward Trevor Zegras about Gibson’s performance. “Mr. Orange County. He’s got that nickname for a reason. I don’t know how much time he missed, but it looked like none at all tonight. We’re always very happy to have him between the pipes.”
Trevor Zegras scored and assisted on another goal, while Troy Terry and defenseman Jackson LaCombe also found the back of the net. Forward Mason McTavish notched two assists, continuing his strong offensive output with five assists in his last three games.
Troy Terry has recorded points in three of his past four games and leads the Ducks with 51 points in 64 games this season. He is just one goal shy of his fourth straight 20-goal season.
