The Ducks fell to 25-25-7 after a 4-2 road loss to the Blackhawks. Anaheim, favored by -1.5 goals, failed to cover the puck line. The total for the game was set at 6.5 goals, but the combined 6 goals didn’t surpass that number.

The Lean
If you’re looking for a moneyline pick, my choice is the Ducks to take down the Canucks at home. With the moneyline currently at +124, I’m placing my bet on the Ducks straight-up.
Our projections have the Ducks pulling out a win as the underdog. But if you’re not as bullish as we are on the Ducks, we’d recommend at least getting a bet down on them to cover the puck line.
With an over/under line sitting at 5.5 goals, we like this game to surpass that mark and recommend getting a bet down on the over.
Canucks Look to Extend Streak as Ducks Seek to Rebound
The Vancouver Canucks will try to continue their dominance over the Anaheim Ducks when the two Pacific Division rivals face off Thursday night in Anaheim, California.
Vancouver has won eight straight games against the Ducks, a streak dating back to the start of the 2022-23 season. Their most recent meeting was a 5-1 Canucks victory in Anaheim on November 5.
Both teams enter the matchup looking to regain form. Anaheim is trying to avoid a third straight loss, while Vancouver has struggled on its current five-game road trip. The Canucks dropped their first two games before picking up a much-needed 3-2 overtime win against the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday.
Canucks Get Boost With Hughes’ Return
Vancouver received a major lift with the return of captain and leading scorer Quinn Hughes, who missed six games due to an undisclosed injury.
Hughes immediately made an impact, assisting on Conor Garland’s game-winning goal against the Kings while logging over 21 minutes of ice time.
Garland praised Hughes’ presence, emphasizing how valuable he is to the team.
“It was huge. He is one of the top three players in the world. When stuff goes awry, you can lean on him to make plays, and he did that in overtime.”
Head coach Rick Tocchet also highlighted Hughes’ return as a major energy boost for the team.
“The practice level went up a notch. He gets pucks to the net. When he does his dance, it makes people get to the net. That is something we have lacked since he was out.”
Garland, who scored twice against the Kings, fired home the game-winner at 4:26 of overtime with a wrist shot from the left circle, securing Vancouver’s first win of the road trip.

Ducks Trying to Recover After Another Late Collapse
Anaheim is coming off a frustrating 3-2 loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday, a game in which the Ducks squandered a two-goal lead in the third period.
Ducks head coach Greg Cronin acknowledged his team was fortunate to be leading early, as Buffalo came out aggressively.
“They came out like gangbusters, and we were very fortunate that we were ahead in the first. They had multiple grade-A chances, and Lukas (Dostal) was awesome.”
Dostal finished with 34 saves, keeping Anaheim in the game despite the defensive lapses in front of him.
Captain Radko Gudas expressed frustration with the team’s mistakes down the stretch.
“I thought we held our ground for most of the night. Obviously, it wasn’t the best first period; then in the second, we were a lot better. But unfortunately, in the third, we did some mistakes that ended up costing us.”

Ducks Missing Zegras Due to Suspension
The Ducks will once again be without forward Trevor Zegras, who is serving a three-game suspension for interference on Detroit’s Michael Rasmussen on Sunday.
Zegras’ absence further weakens Anaheim’s struggling offense, which already ranks among the lowest-scoring teams in the league. He will be eligible to return Tuesday against Edmonton.
What’s at Stake?
For Vancouver, this is a chance to build momentum after a rocky road trip and keep its winning streak against Anaheim alive. With Hughes back in the lineup, the Canucks are looking to take another step toward securing their playoff positioning.
For Anaheim, this is about bouncing back after another late-game collapse. The Ducks have dropped two straight games and will need to find a way to close out games more effectively.
With two teams on different trajectories, this matchup could provide Vancouver with another opportunity to extend its dominance—or offer Anaheim a much-needed win at home. Puck drops Thursday night in Anaheim.
