Devils Aim to Reignite Playoff Spark Against Bruins in Road Finale

With the playoffs just around the corner, the New Jersey Devils are searching for one thing: energy. Heading into their final road game of the regular season, the Devils will look to break out of a three-game skid when they visit the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night. Though their playoff spot is secured, New Jersey is eager to rediscover its winning formula before it’s too late.

Devils Focused on Reset Before Postseason

New Jersey (41-32-7, 89 points) has dropped three straight games and scored just four goals in the process — including a 1-0 shutout loss to the Islanders on Sunday. The offensive drought has been concerning, especially coming off a 7-2 blowout loss to Boston just a week ago.

“You want to feel good rolling into the playoffs and not losing games,” said forward Erik Haula. “We have to get in the win column and feel good heading into the playoffs.”

With their first-round date with the Carolina Hurricanes already locked in, head coach Sheldon Keefe is balancing rest and rhythm in the final two games. The Devils will conclude their regular season at home against the Red Wings on Wednesday.

Despite the losses, there have been bright spots. Goaltender Jacob Markstrom has returned from a knee injury and made key stops against the Islanders, showing signs of postseason readiness.

“Marky was really solid… which is a positive,” Keefe said of his goalie, who had missed 11 games prior.

Top players like Kirill Kaprizov and Mats Zuccarello have found form lately, and now the team is calling on younger players like 19-year-old Zeev Buium — recently signed after leading all NCAA defensemen in scoring — to boost energy levels heading into the playoffs.

Bruins Close Season With Development in Focus

For Boston (33-39-9, 75 points), Tuesday marks the end of a season filled with transition and new faces. Though long out of playoff contention, the Bruins are looking to end on a high note, with a chance to earn their fourth win in six games.

“You just look back at the journey… there’s been a lot of changes going on throughout the year,” said interim head coach Joe Sacco. “We’ve played some good games lately, which has been nice to see.”

Boston’s youth movement continues with call-ups John Farinacci and Frederic Brunet, while rookie Fabian Lysell scored his first NHL goal on Sunday in a 4-1 win over Pittsburgh. Morgan Geekie extended his point streak to 10 games, and star forward David Pastrnak has scored eight goals during his own nine-game streak.

“I already knew [Pastrnak] was a special player… everything is elite,” Lysell said.
