Hot Golden Knights Aim to Stay Red-Hot in Visit to Struggling Blackhawks
The Vegas Golden Knights are rolling at the right time. Winners of four straight, Vegas is surging down the stretch with its sights set firmly on the postseason and control of the Pacific Division. Next up: a Friday night matchup against the struggling Chicago Blackhawks, a team searching for silver linings in an otherwise dismal season.
For Vegas (43-20-8, 94 points), this marks their fifth winning streak of four games or more this season. But what sets this current run apart is the depth and diversity of their scoring.
“We’re scoring in different ways. We’re getting contributions from up and down the lineup,” said forward Jack Eichel. “All those things are positive and what you want to see this time of year.”
Eichel, in particular, has been unstoppable. He’s riding a four-game point streak and has found the back of the net in three straight. His hat trick in Tuesday’s 5-1 dismantling of the Wild pushed his season total to 90 points — a club-leading mark — and showcased why he’s one of the NHL’s most dangerous players.

“He stands out every night,” Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said of Eichel. “He’s just a good player.”
Theodore Returns, Defense Holding Steady
While the Golden Knights were without Alex Pietrangelo in Minnesota due to an upper-body injury, the return of Shea Theodore was a welcome sight. After missing 14 games, Theodore logged over 20 minutes and notched an assist.
“It felt like a first game back,” Theodore admitted. “But good to get the first one out of the way.”
Even with roster fluctuations, the Golden Knights continue to produce, averaging 3.8 goals over their past 15 games. As they aim to lock up the Pacific Division — currently five points ahead of the Kings — every game counts.

Blackhawks Seeking Progress, Not Playoffs
The Blackhawks (21-42-9, 51 points) are firmly out of playoff contention, with only the Sharks below them in the standings. Still, they’re trying to find positives as they develop young talent and look ahead to next season.
Chicago has dropped eight of its last nine games, most recently a 5-3 loss to New Jersey despite outshooting the Devils 24-21. After scoring a season-high seven goals against Philadelphia last weekend, the Blackhawks couldn’t maintain that momentum.
“I think there’s a lot more we still need to work on,” rookie Frank Nazar said. “Just sticking together is the biggest part of that.”
One of the bright spots for Chicago has been rookie defenseman Artyom Levshunov, who posted his first career multi-point game against the Devils and has four assists in his first eight NHL appearances.

“The progression’s been good,” said interim coach Anders Sorensen. “He’s not perfect, but he’s learning.”
Friday’s game also serves as the rubber match in the season series between these two clubs. Chicago won 5-3 back on Jan. 18, while Vegas bounced back with a 7-5 victory on Feb. 27.
