The Kraken Can Win If…

Seattle’s record dropped to 30-35-5 after a 2-0 road loss to the Bruins. The Kraken were underdogs on the puck line, and the total was set at 6 goals, but the combined score of 2 fell well short of that number.

Both of Boston’s goals came in the first period. Seattle’s offense struggled, managing just 23 shots on goal. The Kraken’s defense gave up the first goal just 3:23 into the game.

Seattle’s offense was held scoreless in their 2-0 loss to Boston, despite firing 23 shots on goal. The Kraken struggled with giveaways, recording 19 in the game.

After a 2-0 first period, Seattle couldn’t find the net in the second or third periods. The Kraken were shut out for the first time in 11 games.

Defensively, the Kraken gave up two early goals in the first period, with the second coming on a Bruins power play. However, they tightened up after that, not allowing another goal. Goalie Joey Daccord finished with 31 saves and a 93.9% save percentage. Seattle’s defense also recorded 4 takeaways and 18 hits.

  • Seattle has put together a record of 1-2 in their last three games (regular season). Across this span, their puck line record sits at 2-1 to go along with an over-under mark of 1-2.
  • Across Seattle’s last ten regular season games, their record sits at 5-5. In these contests, the team went just 5-5 against the spread, while going 5-3-2 on the over-under.

The Oilers Can Win If…

With a 4-2 win over the Flames, the Oilers improved to 40-25-5. Edmonton covered the puck line as -1.5 goal favorites, and the total of 6 goals fell short of the 6.5 set before the game.

Four different players scored for the Oilers, who led 2-0 before Calgary tied it up. Zach Hyman’s goal in the third period put Edmonton ahead for good, and they added an empty-netter to seal the win.

Edmonton’s offense was highlighted by Leon Draisaitl, who picked up his 9th goal of the season just 20 seconds into the game. He also added two assists, bringing his total to 8 assists this year. Zach Hyman scored his 3rd goal on a power play in the third period and now has two assists this season.

Edmonton took 31 shots on goal and scored their final goal on an empty net with just 3 seconds left. The Oilers scored twice in the first period, went scoreless in the second, and added two more in the third.

Defensively, the Oilers will look to build on their previous performance, where they allowed just two goals to the Flames. Stuart Skinner made 29 saves, posting a 93.5% save percentage. The Oilers’ defense also recorded 2 takeaways, 19 hits, and 25 blocks. They’ll aim to tighten up in the second and third periods, as both goals they allowed came after the first.

  • Over their last three games, the Oilers have gone 2-1 straight up. In terms of betting, the team went 3-0 puck line in these matchups. Their over/under record in these matchups is 2-1.
  • Through their last ten regular season contests, Edmonton has a record of 6-4. The team’s record vs the puck line was just 4-6, in addition to an over-under mark of 4-6.

The Lean

For a moneyline bet, I’m backing the Oilers to secure a victory over the Kraken at home. With the moneyline currently set at -160, I’m locking in my bet on the Oilers straight-up.

If you’re looking for my recommendation on the puck line, I suggest taking the Kraken to cover. Even if the Oilers manage to win outright, this game is expected to remain competitive, and the Kraken should cover the puck line.

With an over/under line sitting at 6 goals, we like this game to surpass that mark and recommend getting a bet down on the over.

Oilers Face Kraken Without McDavid and Draisaitl

The Edmonton Oilers are bracing for a serious challenge on Saturday night as they host the Seattle Kraken without their two biggest stars: Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. With both sidelined by injuries, the Oilers will need to rely on depth, discipline, and determination to stay in the playoff hunt.

Head coach Kris Knoblauch confirmed on Friday that McDavid and Draisaitl will be unavailable for the clash. Draisaitl is dealing with a knee injury sustained earlier in the week, while McDavid exited Thursday’s 4-3 overtime loss to Winnipeg with a lower-body injury.

“I’d say day-to-day, maybe a week,” Knoblauch said about McDavid’s recovery timeline.
“He won’t be back immediately. He’ll be probably up to a week,” he added regarding Draisaitl.

Despite the setback, the Oilers received some good news: starting goaltender Stuart Skinner, who was removed late in Thursday’s game for concussion protocol, has been cleared.

Staying Afloat in the Playoff Race

The Oilers (40-24-5, 85 points) currently sit second in the Pacific Division, trailing the Vegas Golden Knights by three points and holding a slim lead over the Los Angeles Kings. With McDavid and Draisaitl both sidelined, every game becomes critical in securing playoff positioning.

Veteran winger Zach Hyman emphasized the need for a back-to-basics approach.

“You’re missing two guys who make those kind of special plays… Simplify your game. You can play a pretty simple and direct game, get to the net and just keep things easy,” Hyman said. “We’re a team that’s capable of doing that.”

This upcoming stretch will test Edmonton’s depth and grit, and it may also spotlight younger talent looking to step up.

Kraken Looking to Play Spoiler

The Seattle Kraken (30-35-5, 65 points) enter Saturday’s game coming off a disheartening 4-0 loss to the Minnesota Wild. The defeat snapped a four-game points streak and showcased Seattle’s lingering inconsistency—particularly in the early moments of games.

Seattle allowed three goals in just under two minutes to start the game, putting themselves in a hole they couldn’t climb out of.

“It’s uncharacteristic of our team as of late… We just couldn’t find a goal to claw back into the game,” Kraken coach Dany Bylsma said.

Seattle’s hopes of returning to the Stanley Cup Playoffs have all but evaporated, with the team sitting 12 points outside the postseason cutoff and only 12 games left on the schedule. At this point, the motivation is all about pride and the opportunity to disrupt contenders like Edmonton.

Injuries Continue to Bite Both Teams

While the Oilers will be without their dynamic scoring duo, the Kraken could also be missing an important piece. Forward Chandler Stephenson left the Minnesota game with an undisclosed injury, and his status remains uncertain heading into Saturday.

With both teams short-handed, the game could turn into a battle of resilience rather than star power.
