The Blackhawks Can Win If…

With a 4-2 win over the Ducks, the Blackhawks improved to 20-40-9. Chicago, as underdogs on the puck line, covered the +1.5 goal spread. The total for the game was set at 6.5 goals, but the combined score of 6 fell just short.

Four different players scored for Chicago, who held a 4-1 lead before the Ducks added a late goal. Isaak Phillips opened the scoring at 7:03 in the first period.

Chicago’s offense was active in their 4-2 win over Anaheim, taking 29 shots on goal and scoring twice on power plays. The Blackhawks found the net in each period, with Isaak Phillips scoring his first goal of the season at 7:03 in the 1st period. Teuvo Teravainen added his 4th goal, while Seth Jones netted his 2nd on a power play in the 2nd period. Ryan Donato capped off the scoring with his 7th goal.

Defensively, Arvid Söderblom made 38 saves with a 95% save percentage, helping the Blackhawks secure a 4-2 win over the Ducks. Chicago’s defense also recorded 6 takeaways and 5 hits. Both goals allowed came in the 3rd period, including one with just 4 seconds left.

The Blues Can Win If…

With a 4-2 victory over the Maple Leafs, the Blues improved to 35-28-7. St. Louis covered the puck line as underdogs, and the total line of 6 goals resulted in a push.

After trailing 1-0 in the first period, the Blues responded with four unanswered goals. Three different players contributed to the scoring, with Colton Parayko leading the way with two goals.

Colton Parayko led the Blues with two goals, including his third of the season at 7:27 in the second period. He also added his fifth assist on Pavel Buchnevich’s fourth goal, which came on an empty net with 39 seconds left in the game. Parayko was perfect on his two shots on goal.

Jordan Kyrou netted his third goal of the season at 11:52 in the second period. The Blues took 24 shots on goal and had 14 giveaways. They were held scoreless in the first period before scoring three times in the second.

Defensively, the Blues allowed the first goal 5:25 into the first period and another late in the third, but they held the Maple Leafs scoreless for a stretch of 27:17, starting in the first and ending in the third. Jordan Binnington made 35 saves with a 94.6% save percentage, and the defense added 3 takeaways and 17 hits.

  • The Blues have posted a 3-0 record in their previous three games. In these games, they have a 2-1 record vs the puck line and an over-under mark of 2-1.
  • Across St. Louis’s last ten regular season games, their record sits at 7-3. Across these games, their puck line record was just 6-4, while posting an over-under record of 6-4.

The Lean

For those seeking a straight moneyline bet, the Blues are the top choice. Nonetheless, with a payout of -289, you might want to use this bet as a part of a parlay to get better odds.

If you’re looking for my recommendation on the puck line, I suggest taking the Blackhawks to cover. Even if the Blues manage to win outright, this game is expected to remain competitive, and the Blackhawks should cover the puck line.

When considering the over/under line, which is currently at 5.5 goals, we believe that this game will go over that threshold, and we recommend wagering on the over.

Blues Continue Playoff Push Against Spiraling Blackhawks

The St. Louis Blues are charging toward the playoffs, and Saturday’s home matchup against the struggling Chicago Blackhawks offers a chance to keep that momentum going.

While the Blackhawks (20-40-9, 49 points) were officially eliminated from postseason contention following Thursday’s 3-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings, the Blues (35-28-7, 77 points) are trending in the opposite direction. Their thrilling 4-3 overtime win over the Vancouver Canucks vaulted them into the second wild card spot in the Western Conference, and they’ve now won four straight games.

“It’s as tight as it’s ever been and we’ve just got to keep going,” said Blues forward Dylan Holloway.

“You’ve got to keep sticking to what’s made us successful here lately,” added defenseman Philip Broberg. “We’ve just got to keep that going here the last games.”

St. Louis Heating Up at the Right Time

The Blues have found another gear at the most critical point of the season, going 11-2-2 over their last 15 games. Their surge started back on Feb. 8 with a dramatic 6-5 shootout win over these same Blackhawks, just before the league’s international break. That game proved to be a spark, and they’ve built on it ever since.

St. Louis also cruised to a 6-2 win over Chicago at Wrigley Field in the Winter Classic on Dec. 31.

Young players like Jake Neighbours, Zachary Bolduc, and Tyler Tucker have emerged as key contributors during this stretch, giving the Blues both short-term production and long-term hope.

“The experience they’re getting down the stretch run is only going to help us next year and for years to come,” head coach Jim Montgomery said. “That’s why we’re very thankful our team has been able to play so well to get into these types of games.”

Blackhawks Playing for Pride

Meanwhile, the Blackhawks are once again left playing out the string. Chicago hasn’t made the playoffs since 2020 and hasn’t won a playoff round since their Stanley Cup win in 2015. Thursday’s elimination was just the latest marker in a rebuilding season that has seen glimpses of potential—but little consistency.

Chicago has now dropped six straight (0-5-1), and while they showed life in the final two periods against the Kings, the damage was already done.

“Yeah, they took it to us in the first period,” interim coach Anders Sorensen admitted. “Spencer (Knight) did a good job of keeping us in there. The last two periods, I think we had more quality chances but (they) didn’t go our way.”

Rookie sensation Connor Bedard acknowledged the late push but echoed the team’s struggles in even-strength play.

“After the first period, we got a lot better,” Bedard said. “We didn’t create enough 5-on-5 probably, and that’s kind of what the difference was.”

The Blackhawks will return home for a five-game homestand following this divisional clash, though forward Colton Dach is questionable after suffering an upper-body injury.
