Surging Blues Aim to Keep Hitting Right Notes vs. Predators
The St. Louis Blues will look to continue their winning ways as they host the Nashville Predators on Sunday. The game marks the second of three meetings between the teams within a span of 10 days, as the Blues push to solidify their position in the Western Conference playoff race.
Blues Push for Playoff Spot
The Blues (36-28-7, 79 points) are riding high with a five-game winning streak and an impressive 12-2-2 record over their last 16 contests. They are currently holding onto the final wild-card spot in the Western Conference, just ahead of the Calgary Flames (77 points), Vancouver Canucks (76), and Utah Hockey Club (75).
St. Louis will look to replicate their performance from Tuesday when they defeated the Predators 4-1 in Nashville. The Blues also posted a 7-4 victory over the Predators back on December 27.

The Blues’ recent success has been fueled by depth scoring and strong play from the fourth line, led by Alexey Toropchenko, Nathan Walker, and Radek Faksa. That trio combined for two goals in the Blues’ most recent win, a 4-1 triumph over the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night.
“We had a pretty slow start, but we found a way to get back into the game by playing hard, making simple plays, and playing for each other,” Toropchenko said. “We were just on top of them and grinding.”
Jordan Binnington is expected to start in goal for the Blues after Joel Hofer handled duties in the win over Chicago. Binnington will look to build on the Blues’ strong home record as they aim to maintain their playoff spot.

Predators Try to Regroup
The Predators (26-35-8, 60 points) snapped a four-game winless streak with a 5-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. Despite being out of playoff contention, Nashville showed some fight with Filip Forsberg (two goals, one assist) and Luke Evangelista (goal, two assists) leading the way.
“As the game went on, it looked a little bit more like us, where we were transitioning fast, putting pucks in areas, and we were predictable,” Predators coach Andrew Brunette said.
Nashville’s Juuse Saros earned the win against Toronto, but Justus Annunen is expected to start in goal against the Blues. Coach Brunette had recently called out his veterans for lackluster play, but he clarified his comments, acknowledging the challenge of staying motivated while playing out the string.
“I’m not knocking our team for attitude,” Brunette said. “I think we’re in a hard spot. It’s important you handle yourself the right way.”
