Golden Knights Look to Rebound Against Blues in St. Louis
The Vegas Golden Knights, stuck in their toughest stretch of the season, head to St. Louis on Thursday to face the Blues in a rematch. Vegas is looking to break a four-game losing streak after a 6-5 shootout loss to the Blues on Monday.
Despite the slump, the Golden Knights still lead the Pacific Division by a single point over the Edmonton Oilers. Coach Bruce Cassidy sees room for improvement, noting that costly mistakes in key moments have been the team’s Achilles’ heel.
“We’re not playing poorly overall, but there are pockets where we’re chasing the game,” Cassidy said.
Key Players for Vegas
Pavel Dorofeyev has been a bright spot, with six goals in the last five games, including the game-tying goal in Monday’s showdown. Points leader Jack Eichel, with 58 on the season, has contributed four points in the past three games.
Goaltender Adin Hill (18-8-3) has struggled recently, going 1-2-1 in his last four starts while conceding at least three goals in each loss.
Blues on the Rise
The Blues are gaining momentum, winning three of their last four games. They’re just one point shy of the final wild-card spot in the Western Conference. Jake Neighbours has been hot, scoring in consecutive games, and Brayden Schenn is on a four-game point streak.
St. Louis coach Jim Montgomery was pleased with his team’s performance in Monday’s game, despite losing a two-goal lead late.
“When we play the right way with good habits and effort, we can compete with the best teams in the league,” Montgomery said.
Goaltender Jordan Binnington has had an up-and-down season but boasts a strong 9-4-5 record in 19 appearances against the Golden Knights.
Injury Updates
Vegas forward Brett Howden may miss Thursday’s game due to illness, while Cole Schwindt is week-to-week with a lower-body injury. St. Louis defenseman Philip Broberg left practice early on Wednesday and is being evaluated.
What to Expect
The Blues, fighting for a playoff spot, will try to capitalize on the Golden Knights’ struggles. Meanwhile, Vegas looks to regain its form and start the road trip on a high note.
Will the Knights bounce back, or can the Blues keep their playoff push alive? Thursday night will tell the story.
