The Jets Can Win If…

Winnipeg improved to 39-14-3 with a 7-4 win over the Lightning. The Jets were favored on the puck line and covered the -1.5 goals. The total was set at 6.5 goals, and the 11 combined goals easily surpassed that mark.

All seven of the Jets’ goals came from different players. Winnipeg trailed 2-0 early in the game, but Vladislav Namestnikov got them on the board with 7:37 left in the first period.

Winnipeg’s offense produced 7 goals on 34 shots in their 7-4 win over Tampa Bay. Each of the Jets’ 7 goals came from different players, with Vladislav Namestnikov netting his 3rd goal of the season and Cole Perfetti adding his 4th on an empty net. Nikolaj Ehlers, who also scored on an empty net, now has 9 goals this season.

After trailing 2-0, the Jets got on the board with a 1st-period goal from Namestnikov. They added two more in the 2nd period, including Mark Scheifele’s 8th goal of the year. Alex Iafallo’s 4th-period goal came on a power play, his first of the season. Winnipeg finished with 10 assists and scored twice on empty nets.

Defensively, the Jets will look to improve after allowing the first two goals of the game and another tying goal at 4-4 in the 3rd period. Connor Hellebuyck finished with 26 saves and a save percentage of 86.7%. The Jets’ defense registered 5 takeaways and 31 hits.

  • Winnipeg will look to keep things rolling as they have put together a mark of 3-0 over their past three games. Their strong play has also resulted in an puck line mark of 2-1 (last 3). They had an over/under mark of 2-1 in those same games.
  • Through their last ten regular season contests, Winnipeg has a record of 8-2. The team’s record vs the puck line was just 7-3, in addition to an over-under mark of 6-4.

The Blues Can Win If…

With a 4-2 win over the Maple Leafs, the Blues moved closer to .500, now sitting at 25-26-5. St. Louis covered the puck line as underdogs, and the total was set at 6 goals, resulting in a push.

St. Louis fell behind early, allowing a goal in the first period, but responded with four straight goals, including three in the second period. Three different players scored for the Blues, with Colton Parayko leading the way with two goals.

Colton Parayko led the way for the Blues with two goals in their 4-2 win over the Maple Leafs, scoring his second and third goals of the season. He found the net for the first time at 16:31 in the second period, and added his third goal at 7:27 in the same period. Parayko also picked up his fifth assist on Pavel Buchnevich’s empty-netter, which was Buchnevich’s fourth goal of the season.

After a scoreless first period, the Blues scored three times in the second, with Jordan Kyrou netting his third goal of the year at 11:52. St. Louis took 24 shots on goal and recorded 14 giveaways in the game.

Defensively, the Blues gave up an early goal at 5:25 in the first period and another late in the third, but they held the Maple Leafs scoreless in the second, helping them secure a 4-2 win. Jordan Binnington made 35 saves with a 94.6% save percentage, and the defense added 3 takeaways and 17 hits.

  • Through their last three regular season contests, St. Louis has a record of 1-2. Against the spread, they have a strong mark of 2-1 along with an over-under record of 1-2.
  • Over their last ten regular season games, the Blues have gone 3-7 straight up. In these matchups, they ended with an puck line record of 4-6 and an over-under mark of 4-5-1.

The Lean

When it comes to a moneyline wager, I’m going with the Blues to defeat the Jets while playing at home. Given the current moneyline odds at +110, I’m placing a wager on the Blues to win outright.

Our projections have the Blues pulling out a win as the underdog. But if you’re not as bullish as we are on the Blues, we’d recommend at least getting a bet down on them to cover the puck line.

For those looking at the over/under line set at 6 goals, our expectation is that this game will surpass that mark, and we suggest making a bet on the over.

Jets Aim to Extend Winning Streak with Lowry’s Return

The Winnipeg Jets return from the 4 Nations Face-Off break with added firepower as captain Adam Lowry is set to rejoin the lineup Saturday night against the St. Louis Blues. Lowry, who missed the past eight games with an upper-body injury, confirmed his return following practice, with Jets coach Scott Arniel also expressing confidence in the forward’s readiness.

“It’s made it a little easier sitting out knowing that the guys are playing as well as they are,” Lowry said. “To see the strides we’re making, to see some key wins … it’s been great. I don’t wanna come back into the lineup and [for] things to change, but I’m really excited to hopefully be back.”

Before his injury, Lowry tallied 11 goals and 15 assists in 48 games. His return bolsters an already potent Winnipeg offense that has benefited from contributions across all four lines. Eight Jets forwards have reached double-digit goal totals, with Mark Scheifele leading the team with 31 goals and Kyle Connor close behind with 30.

“That’s been a big part of our success, it’s not just one line that we’ve been relying on every night,” Arniel noted. “There’s nights where [Scheifele’s] line gets shut down by the opposite checkers or they’re having a tough night, then it’s Vladdy [Namestnikov’s] line that steps up or it’s Lowry’s line that steps in and gives us some offense.”

Morrissey’s Status in Question, Comrie May Start in Net

Defenseman Josh Morrissey is questionable for the game after missing Thursday night’s USA-Canada 4 Nations Face-Off game due to illness. Kyle Connor was a healthy scratch for Team USA in the same game, while goaltender Connor Hellebuyck saw action, making Eric Comrie a likely candidate to start in net against St. Louis.

The Jets, currently riding an eight-game winning streak, aim to continue their climb in the standings as they capitalize on balanced scoring and solid defensive play. With Lowry’s return adding depth to the forward lines, Winnipeg is poised to maintain its momentum as the season resumes.

Blues Seek to Rebound After Pre-Break Struggles

While Winnipeg surged into the break, St. Louis struggled, posting a 2-5-1 record in its last eight games. One major issue for the Blues has been their penalty kill, which ranks third-worst in the NHL with a 71.3 percent success rate. Coach Jim Montgomery emphasized the importance of improving special teams during recent practices.

“We’re really focusing on running straight lines, knowing our responsibilities in the diamond, knowing our responsibilities when it resets below the top of the circles,” Montgomery said. “And then the stops and starts, when one guy goes, the other guys got to anticipate that next pass and get there, and the stick positioning that goes with it.”

With starting goaltender Jordan Binnington having played for Canada in Thursday’s 4 Nations final, the Blues are expected to turn to Joel Hofer in net for the first of back-to-back games. St. Louis will face Colorado at home on Sunday.

Blues Managing Workload After International Competition

Defenseman Colton Parayko, who also represented Canada, is expected to see a reduced practice workload as the team aims to manage his energy levels following the tournament.

“We’re going to have to look to definitely give them more rest,” Montgomery explained. “They’re going to have to play games for us, we know that. But if we’re coming in, maybe we tell them to stay home a couple days so that they can regenerate the batteries because not only have they not had the break that we all had, but they’re playing real intense [games].”

Playoff Implications and Keys to the Matchup

As the Jets aim to extend their winning streak, Lowry’s return adds another layer of depth to an offense that has proven difficult to contain. Meanwhile, the Blues must address their defensive lapses and penalty-killing issues if they hope to slow down Winnipeg’s balanced attack.

With both teams resuming their regular-season campaigns after the break, Saturday’s matchup could set the tone for their respective playoff pushes. Can the Jets continue their streak with Lowry back in the lineup, or will the Blues rebound on home ice and tighten up their defense to secure a crucial win?
