In July, John Cena shook up the WWE Universe by declaring that he would be retiring from pro wrestling at the end of 2025. Of course, Cena took the long route to get to that promo destination, but he did drop several nuggets along the way.

Cena appeared on the 2024 Money in the Bank PPV to announce his retirement. However, the former 16-time world champion discussed how he would stretch out his final matches for the entire 2025 calendar year. In other words, WWE fans will get a John Cena Retirement Tour.

With that said, sports betting sites have released numerous WWE prop bets regarding John Cena’s final year as a pro wrestler. Let’s walk that aisle, step inside the squared circle, and make our best John Cena retirement predictions.

John Cena Retirement Tour

During his appearance on MITB, Cena stated that next year’s Royal Rumble and WrestleMania events will be his last. However, he made sure to expand upon that by also saying that he will spread out his matches for all of 2025, and finish his career as an in-ring wrestler at the end of the year.

Cena tried to tie in his retirement with the symbolic nature of MITB representing opportunity to whomever wins the briefcase and MITB contract. That part of his speech was a bit of a stretch. However, he definitely left a mark on the live crowd as they were chanting “Thank you Cena.”

In the post-MITB press conference, Cena expanded on his retirement further by saying that he will still be a part of the WWE even though he’s not an in-ring wrestler anymore:

“I’ve always said to the audience that WWE is my home and I love it. Just because I physically feel I’m at my end, doesn’t mean I need to distance myself from something I love.”

If I had to guess, I would say that Cena gets an appearance on all of the big PPVs next year until he finishes in December 2025. That not only means Royal Rumble and WrestleMania, but SummerSlam and Survivor Series as well.

Additionally, you can expect the WWE to induct John Cena in the HOF next year since it will be his last as a wrestler. Cena is finally moving on to his acting career full time after juggling both for the last several years. As he stated, Cena doesn’t feel that he can physically do it anymore.

John Cena Predictions

There are numerous John Cena prop bets available to wager on. The following is a list of our best John Cena predictions for these prop bets, courtesy of BetOnline:

Who Will Induct Cena Into WWE HOF?

  • Kurt Angle (+250)
  • Randy Orton (+300)
  • Triple H (+500)
  • The Rock (+600)
  • CM Punk (+700)
  • Edge (+900)

There are certainly many great WWE stars to choose from when it comes to inducting Cena into the WWE Hall of Fame. When looking over the names above, Cena had great matches or rivalries with all of them.

I am a bit surprised that Kurt Angle is the top choice considering his matches or rivalry with Cena wouldn’t even rank that high for either man’s career.

When you think of Cena’s greatest rivalries, names like CM Punk, Edge, Randy Orton and The Rock all come to mind as their matches and moments were etched into WWE immortality.

Of this list, Orton and The Rock stand out the most to me.

There’s no question that Cena vs. Orton spanned nearly 20 years on the main roster of the WWE. One source states that their last match against each other was on SmackDown in February 2017. Yet, these two stars seem to be linked to each other due to their lengthy feuds, real-life friendship and mutual respect for each other:

“I think even though I trusted Triple H, Ric Flair, and all those guys, but I think just the camaraderie between me and John, being cool. I don’t know that those guys at that time respected me, I think John respected me and I think he respected me for certain things I was capable of doing in the ring and just feeling that respect from him, made me have this trust for him, that I could trust him to lead the way. And I could trust him that anything he’s telling me, it’s like it’s gold and he’s telling me how he does it.”

As great as that rivalry was between Orton and Cena, I am still leaning towards The Rock to induct Cena into the WWE HOF and for multiple reasons.

The first reason is that these two had a feud that spilled from the ring into the mainstream when Cena constantly bashed The Rock for ditching the WWE to focus on Hollywood. It was a path that Cena ended up taking himself, which humbled him even further.

Cena described how their rivalry divided the two and how it crossed the line both in and out of the ring:

“There was a lot of stepping over the line of boundaries of what’s permissible and trustworthy in the ring and what’s not, I violated his trust again by calling him out on some shit… he did the same to me, so we grew farther and farther apart.”

Eventually, Cena would go on to apologize to The Rock and his mom for the public criticism in and out of a WWE ring. This opened the door to a new friendship that culminated in both men giving the fans what they want – a public hug on WWE television in September 2023.

The Rock is the biggest star in the WWE to this very day. Cena is a close second. Both men have crossed over into the mainstream unlike any wrestler before or since them.

I fully expect the WWE to make next year’s WrestleMania and HOF Ceremony as big as possible considering they will be Cena’s last. And to do that, they need the biggest star in all of entertainment – The Rock.

The second reason why I think it will be The Rock, can be read in the prop bet below.

Bet: The Rock (+600)

2025 WrestleMania Opponent

  • Randy Orton (+110)
  • Cody Rhodes (+300)
  • Bron Breaker (+500)
  • Gunther (+500)
  • CM Punk (+700)
  • The Rock (+900)

Randy Orton has already stated that he wants to wrestle Cena one more time during the latter’s retirement tour:

“But as far as what do I personally want? I would love to wrestle John. But as far as pushing for that match, that’s never been my style, that’s never been seen as my style. And I think if it’s meant to be, if it’s in the stars, then we’ll definitely do it, and we’ll have a lot of fun doing so well. I want it, so I’ll get it started for you, don’t worry about that.”

Considering that WrestleMania is the biggest event for the WWE each year, Cena’s final WM match needs to be a memorable one like Ric Flair’s was against Shawn Michaels.

With that in mind, Randy Orton makes perfect sense to face Cena. With their long rivalry, friendship, mutual respect, and Orton’s lobbying for this match, I see no better option for the WWE than The Viper.

Although Cody Rhodes would make for an intriguing matchup, nobody thinks that he would lose especially with the Undisputed Championship around his waist.

A match against The Rock would be massive, but it serves little purpose for either man considering neither wrestle more than one or two matches a year at this point in their careers.

A CM Punk match could be an outside shot considering these two men had a great rivalry nearly 15 years ago. Gunther and Bron Breakker would obviously win as they are younger stars that Cena would gladly pass the torch to. However, these matches wouldn’t be entertaining because the fans would expect Cena to lose.

Only a match against Orton and CM Punk could capture the intrigue and emotions of the WWE fans. Both men are still very active in the ring, so a WrestleMania match would further whatever storylines or momentum they have going on at the time. Imagine a heel CM Punk cheating to beat Cena. The heat he would get, would be amazing.

For this prop bet, let’s go the safe route and take Orton. However, if you want to take a flier on Punk, I wouldn’t fault you for that.

Bet: Randy Orton (+110)

Will WM Match Be For World Title?

  • Yes (-120)
  • No (-120)

Although I believe that a match against Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed title makes little sense, that doesn’t mean a match for the WWE Championship is out of the question. In fact, if someone like Punk was holding the belt at that the time, it would make perfect sense for Cena to fight for the title at WrestleMania.

The media blitz for this match will surround Cena breaking Flair’s 16-time world championship record. Although, we know that’s not the exact amount. And, Punk would play the perfect foil in this storyline.

With that said, I’m going to say that the WWE doesn’t take this route at Mania. Cena’s final WM match doesn’t need a title or a young star. It needs a heel or a longtime rival.

Bet: No (-120)

Will John Cena Win The 2025 Royal Rumble?

  • Yes (+250)
  • No (-400)

In his illustrious career, John Cena has competed in eight different Royal Rumble matches. Over that span, he has won two of those: 2008 and 2013.

His 2008 victory was a memorable one as Cena returned from a serious injury and shocked the Madison Square Garden fans. He was the 30th entrant and spent just eight and a half minutes in the match before winning hist first ever Royal Rumble. Along the way, Cena eliminated Carlito, Mark Henry, Chavo Guerrero and Triple H.

Cena’s second and final Royal Rumble match win came in 2013. He entered 19th and lasted 26:10 before winning. Along the way, Cena eliminated four other wrestlers: Cody Rhodes, Heath Slater, Cesaro, and Ryback.

With that said, I don’t see Cena winning the match. Nor do I see any storyline purpose to have Cena win the Royal Rumble. Instead, have Bron Breakker win it, so that he can go on to WrestleMania and win the world title.

Bet: No (-400)

Will John Cena Make The Final 4 of RR?

  • Yes (-300)
  • No (+200)

In Cena’s eight Royal Rumble appearances, he’s finished in the Final 4 on five separate occasions. In addition to his two wins, Cena also finished 2nd in 2005 and 2010, along with 3rd in 2018.

The 2005 Royal Rumble saw Cena enter the match at #25 and eliminate three wrestlers before Batista tossed Cena out of the ring for the victory.

The 2010 Royal Rumble saw Cena enter 19th and last 22:12 minutes before losing to Edge in the end. Cena eliminated four wrestlers before getting tossed himself.

2018 was Cena’s last Royal Rumble appearance. He entered 20th and lasted 28:33 before being eliminated by Shinsuke Nakamura who would go on to win the match. Cena finished third in this bout, but did eliminate three wrestlers: Elias, Finn Balor and The Hurricane.

For his career, all eight Royal Rumble men’s matches saw Cena finish in the final 9 spots. In 2011, he was 5th and eliminated by The Miz who wasn’t even in the match.

As for this prop bet, I do see Cena finishing in the Final 4. I think it could add an emotional layer to the match before being eliminated by someone like CM Punk or Bron Breakker.

Bet: Yes (-300)
