With just three weeks left in the regular season, Week 16 features a handful of games that will definitely impact the Playoff race in both conferences. Additionally, there are a few divisional matchups that could wreak havoc on their respective divisions.

With that in mind, Week 16 begins with a Thursday Night Football clash in the AFC North as “The Battle of Ohio” takes center stage with the Cincinnati Bengals hosting the Cleveland Browns. The outcome of this TNF game could weigh heavily on the division and the AFC Wild Card race.

Week 16 also has two primetime games that could have an impact on the NFC Wild Card race as the Dallas Cowboys host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday Night Football and the Green Bay Packers host the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football

In addition to these three national games, the NFL will feature two exciting matchups on Saturday, December 21. The first game falls under the SNF banner as the Kansas City Chiefs host the Houston Texans. The second game is an intense rivalry as the Baltimore Ravens host the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Ironically, all four of these teams that are playing on Saturday, will also play on Christmas Day, just different matchups. A tip of the cap to the NFL schedule makers for this holiday plan.

With that in mind, the full slate of NFL Week 16 Odds is not available as of yet. Key NFL Week 16 Games

With Week 16 of the NFL season featuring most of the NFL teams, there are a few key Week 16 games that stand out from the rest:

Cleveland Browns vs. Cincinnati Bengals

This week’s TNF game puts the AFC North in the spotlight with the second installment of the 2024 Battle of Ohio. Their first matchup will take place in Week 7. So, the following trends don’t include that result as it hasn’t happened as of this writing.

The Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals have played against each other 101 times over the regular season and Playoffs. During that span, the Bengals hold the advantage with a 53-48 record.

However, the Browns are 6-2 against the Bengals over the last eight matchups. Although the game is in Cincinnati, these two teams are 3-3 in the last six games at Paycor Stadium. But the Bengals have won two in a row at home and are looking to extend that streak to three.

Considering this game takes place so late in the season, the loser could end up falling out of the Playoff hunt, while the winner solidifies their position in the race for the AFC North or a Wild Card spot.

Can the Bengals extend their winning streak to three straight victories at home over the Browns or will Cleveland get their first road win of this series since 2021?

Houston Texans vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Although this game takes place on Saturday morning, it falls under the Sunday Night Football banner. So, we’ll cover it on our weekly SNF blog. With that said, this matchup has a lot riding on it and should be a thrilling clash between two projected AFC powerhouses.

Since the Houston Texans entered the league in 2002 as an expansion team, these two teams have played against each other 14 times. The Kansas City Chiefs hold the advantage in this series with a 9-5 record. The Chiefs are also 4-1 in the last five head-to-head matchups.

One thing that could play a factor in this game, is who each team is playing in Week 15. The Texans will be at home against the Miami Dolphins and the Chiefs will be on the road against the Browns. Both games will be tall tasks for each team to win and turn around on a short week.

Will the Texans pull off the big road win at Arrowhead Stadium or will the Chiefs extend their current winning streak over Houston?

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Baltimore Ravens

When talking about modern rivalries in the NFL, this AFC North clash between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens ranks near the top of the list.

These two bitter rivals will first play against each other in Week 11, which marks the 60th time that these two have competed against another. As of this writing, the Steelers hold the advantage with a 35-25 record.

Pittsburgh has won seven of the last eight meetings, not including Week 11 since it hasn’t happened as of this writing. The Steelers have also won six of the last seven games at Baltimore including four in a row. In other words, the Steelers have owned this rivalry over the last handful of years. The Ravens last beat Pittsburgh at home in 2019.

Can the Steelers continue their recent domination over the Ravens or will Baltimore finally pick up a big home victory over Pittsburgh for the first time in five years?

Los Angeles Rams vs. New York Jets

This Week 16 matchup is an intriguing one as both teams could be in the thick of the Wild Card race for their respective conferences. Although the Los Angeles Rams aren’t expected to contend for the NFC West, the New York Jets are projected to be a contender in the AFC East

These two teams have played against each other 15 times and it’s the Rams that hold a sizable lead in this series at 10-5. However, the Jets have won three of the last four meetings.

With that said, the Rams are 4-1 in their last five trips to New York. The Jets lone win over that span came in 2008, when they won 47-3. The other four losses have been by an average of 10 points per game.

Can the Rams continue their winning ways in New York or will the Jets soar to a victory over Los Angeles?

San Francisco 49ers vs. Miami Dolphins

This Week 16 clash between the San Francisco 49ers and Miami Dolphins is going to be an exciting matchup as both teams have postseason aspirations, especially after being in the Playoffs last year.

They have played against each other 12 times, including Super Bowl 19 where the 49ers won 38-16. However, the Dolphins do hold the slight edge in this series with an 8-7 record. Miami is also 2-1 in the last three meetings between these two teams. They last played in 2022, and the 49ers won 33-17.

The Dolphins are 4-2 in home games against the 49ers, including winning the last two games in a row. Will they be able to pick up a third straight home win or will San Francisco snap their losing skid in Miami?

NFC South Wild Card Push

The next two games feature NFC South teams as they both look to pick up big road victories in Week 16. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers travel to Texas to battle the Dallas Cowboys, while the New Orleans Saints head to Lambeau Field to battle the Green Bay Packers

Both games are going to be tough for each NFC South team, so you can expect both of those teams to be the underdogs as well. With the Bucs and Saints fighting for the NFC South division and a potential Wild Card spot, these two matchups could really shape those races over the final two weeks of the season.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Dallas Cowboys

The Bucs and Cowboys have played against each other 22 times and Dallas holds a huge advantage in the series with a 16-6 record. They last played in the 2023 Wild Card round and the Cowboys won that game 31-14. That also happened to be the final game of Tom Brady’s legendary career.

At home, Dallas has been absolutely dominating against Tampa Bay. The Cowboys are 12-2 at home and have won five of their last six home meetings against the Bucs. Ironically, Tampa Bay snapped a five-game losing skid at Dallas in 2022. However, that was when Brady was at the helm.

Can Tampa Bay win two in a row at Dallas or will the Cowboys continue to dominate the Bucs at home?

New Orleans Saints vs. Green Bay Packers

In similar fashion as the Bucs vs. Cowboys, the series between the New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers has been pretty one-sided as well. The Packers hold the series advantage with an 18-10 overall record. However, they have dominated at Lambeau Field going 11-3 all-time against the Saints.

Give the Saints credit for winning two of the last five games at Green Bay, but the last win came in 2017 when Drew Brees was running the offense. These two teams played last year at Green Bay and the Packers won 18-17. It was a hard-fought victory. It was also one of Jordan Love’s first games as Green Bay’s starting quarterback.

Will New Orleans pick up their fourth ever win in Green Bay or will the Packers continue their winning ways at home over the Saints?
