Week 6 of the NFL Season starts off with an intriguing divisional matchup and ends with arguably the most exciting game of the week. On Thursday Night Football, the San Francisco 49ers head up north to face their NFC West rival the Seattle Seahawks.
On Monday Night Football, the Buffalo Bills head out on the road to battle AFC East rival the New York Jets in what could be a game for first place in the division.
In-between those two primetime games, we also have some compelling matchups led by the Detroit Lions at Dallas Cowboys, the Pittsburgh Steelers vs. the Las Vegas Raiders, and the London game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Chicago Bears.
The Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams, Miami Dolphins, and the Minnesota Vikings will be on a Bye in Week 6. This will definitely be a week that impacts fantasy football teams.

With Week 6 of the NFL season featuring most of the NFL teams, there are a few key Week 6 games that stand out from the rest:
San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks
This NFC West rivalry has seen both teams go on winning streaks over the years. From 2013 to 2022, the Seattle Seahawks won 15 of 17 divisional clashes against the San Francisco 49ers. However, over the last few years, the 49ers have won five in a row including the 2023 Playoff matchup.
Seattle holds the advantage in this rivalry with an all-time record of 30-22. This year, the Seahawks have a new head coach and coordinators. These changes could also provide a new wrinkle in this rivalry. The 49ers continue marching towards another deep Playoff run and a shot at another Super Bowl appearance.
Can the 49ers sweep the Seahawks for a third straight season or will Seattle finally end this demoralizing losing streak against their rivals?
Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Chicago Bears
The Jacksonville Jaguars will take on the Chicago Bears in London in Week 6. Although the Jaguars are listed as the “road team” for this matchup, both teams are technically road teams. Furthermore, the Jaguars are the adopted team of the UK as they play in London on an annual basis. This season, they will play two London games in a row.
For the Bears, it will be interesting to see how rookie QB Caleb Williams handles his first international trip in the NFL. He will be under a microscope all season long.
The Jaguars have a 6-5 record in London games, but have won two in a row. However, it’s the Bears who hold a 5-3 advantage in this series, which includes winning three of the last four meetings.
Will Jacksonville win their third straight London game or will the Bears feast on tea, crumpets and Jaguars?
Cleveland Browns vs. Philadelphia Eagles
This Week 6 matchup is an intriguing one because the physicality of the Cleveland Browns should challenge the finesse of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Offensively, the Browns like to run the ball down their opponents’ throats. This smash-mouth approach could challenge the heart of Philly’s defense.
On the other side of the ball, Philly’s offense should be an explosive one with all of the weapons at QB Jalen Hurts’ disposal. However, Cleveland is known for getting after the QB and smothering opposing receivers. This could be a game where Hurts has to extend plays and pick up first downs with his legs.
These two teams have played against each other 50 times and it’s the Browns that hold a sizable advantage in this series with a 32-17-1 record. However, the Eagles have won five of the last six head-to-head meetings.
Can the Browns win a second consecutive matchup in this series or will the Eagles take flight with a sixth win in the last seven contests?
Detroit Lions vs. Dallas Cowboys
These two NFC teams will be vying for a Playoff spot by the end of the 2024-25 NFL Season. So, a Week 6 victory could be the tie breaker when it comes to Playoff seeding by time the postseason rolls around.
The Dallas Cowboys are expected to contend with the Eagles for the NFC East title. However, the Detroit Lions are expected to pounce on the NFC North for a second straight divisional crown. Both teams will need a victory in Week 6 to accomplish those tasks.
These two teams have played against each other 31 times. Dallas holds the advantage with a 19-12 record. Even more impressive is the fact that the Cowboys have won six straight games over Detroit including a 20-19 nailbiter last season.
Can Detroit snap this losing streak against Dallas or will the Cowboys continue to domesticate the Lions?
Buffalo Bills vs. New York Jets
This AFC East showdown, on Monday night, could be for first place in the division as the Buffalo Bills head to Jersey to take on the New York Jets. We all remember what happened last year on Monday Night Football when Aaron Rodgers suffered a season ending injury just four plays into the game. Although the Jets would win that matchup, they lost the season without their starting QB.
That was just the second time that the Jets have won in the last eight meetings, as the Bills have owned this rivalry in recent years. However, this season could be different. The Jets are expected to contend for the AFC East crown. In fact, many pundits believe that Buffalo is in serious danger of losing their top spot in the division.
The Jets and Bills have played against each other 127 times and the Bills hold the advantage with a 69-58 record. Surprisingly, these two teams have only played against each other once in the Playoffs. Buffalo is 4-2 in their last six trips to New York.
