Jordan Morris Among Sounders Out vs. St. Louis City
The Seattle Sounders (1-1-1, 4 points) will face a major test of their roster depth when they visit St. Louis City (1-0-2, 5 points) on Saturday night. Injuries are piling up for Seattle, with Jordan Morris, Paul Arriola, and Pedro de la Vega all sidelined for the match.
Sounders Dealing with Key Absences
Seattle’s all-time leading scorer, Jordan Morris, exited Tuesday’s 4-1 CONCACAF Champions Cup loss to Cruz Azul with a hamstring injury and is expected to be out four to six weeks.

The Sounders will also be without midfielder Paul Arriola, who tore his ACL before halftime against Cruz Azul, and Pedro de la Vega, who suffered a quadriceps injury in last Saturday’s 5-2 win over LAFC.
To make matters worse, head coach Brian Schmetzer may also miss the match due to illness.
“Guys have to step up,” Sounders captain Stefan Frei said. “It’s an opportunity to play. They ought to be hungry themselves to play to the best of their ability and get some results.”
Seattle has relied on depth and resilience in past seasons, but this early challenge will test their ability to keep pace in the Western Conference.
St. Louis Gaining Momentum
After opening the season with two scoreless draws, St. Louis City broke through with a dominant 3-0 road win over the defending MLS Cup champion LA Galaxy.

Cedric Teuchert had a goal and an assist, while Simon Becher and Marcel Hartel also found the back of the net. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Roman Burki made eight saves and was named the league’s Player of the Matchday.
“The momentum is on our side after a 3-0 win in L.A.,” Teuchert said. “Seattle is a strong opponent, so we have to prepare for the next game.”
History Favors Seattle
Despite their injury concerns, Seattle has dominated St. Louis since the club entered MLS in 2023, winning all four matchups by a combined 9-1 scoreline.
