On Saturday, July 6th, Top Rank Promotions, in conjunction with ESPN, brings a night of boxing action as Shakur Stevenson defends his WBC lightweight championship against Artem Harutyunyan. This event will be live from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, with a 4pm ET start time.

Stevenson (21-0, 10 KOs) enters this weekend’s bout as the heavy betting favorite. The undefeated American will put his title on the line for the first time. Despite the massive disparity in odds, Artem Harutyunyan (12-1, 7 KOs) is considered by some pundits to be a dangerous opponent for the champ.

Let’s examine the latest Artem Harutyunyan vs. Shakur Stevenson odds, courtesy of the top sports betting sites, and make our top predictions.

Recent Shakur Stevenson Odds and Fights

Over his last five bouts, Stevenson has fought in multiple divisions. He last competed in November 2023, where he defeated Edwin De Los Santos via unanimous decision (116-112, 115-113, 116-112). Stevenson entered that contest as a -2000 betting favorite and won the vacant WBC world lightweight title. The victory also meant that Stevenson became a three-division world champion.

In April 2023, Stevenson scored a 6th round TKO over Shuichiro Yoshino after entering that bout as a -4000 favorite. It was his first fight moving up to lightweight after missing the cut in his bout against Robson Conceicao in September 2022. Missing weight for this fight resulted in Stevenson being stripped of his super featherweight titles. Although over the weight limit, Stevenson won via unanimous decision.

Prior to the Conceicao bout, Stevenson beat Oscar Valdez via unanimous decision, Jamel Herring via 10th round TKO, and Jeremia Nakathila via unanimous decision. The Valdez fight saw Stevenson as his smallest betting favorite status over the last several years, with odds of -400 to -850.

For Stevenson, his contract with Top Rank ends this weekend. So, he will be a free agent afterward. A great performance on Saturday could drive up his contractual demands and create a bidding war. With that in mind, Stevenson is not overlooking his opponent this weekend as he recognizes how dangerous Harutyunyan is:

“My main focus is July 6. Yeah, I think he’s very much more dangerous. He’s a good fighter, definitely dangerous”.

Recent Artem Harutyunyan Odds and Fights

Harutyunyan is coming off the first loss of his pro career when he suffered a unanimous decision defeat (112-115, 112-115, 113-114) to Frank Martin in July 2023. Stevenson believes that Artem’s loss was due to fatigue and not due to a lack of overall skills.

Prior to that loss, Harutyunyan was 12-0 in his career and won four straight bouts within a 30-month period. Over that span, he had two victories with the WBC International lightweight title on the line: 5th round KO over Samuel Molina and a split decision win over Vladyslav Melnyk.

Prior to being a +900 underdog to Martin, Harutyunyan was a betting favorite as far back as boxing odds were listed for his fights. He will come into this weekend’s clash as the largest betting underdog status of his career to date.

Stevenson vs. Harutyunyan Predictions

Despite how much Stevenson says that Harutyunyan is a dangerous opponent, it’s hard to find a scenario where the German challenger scores the upset victory this weekend.

There are levels to this fight game and Stevenson is on another level than Harutyunyan. You will see this disparity in talent on Saturday night. I expect Stevenson to have his way throughout this contest as he out-boxes Harutyunyan throughout the scheduled 12 rounds. Stevenson is more athletic, quicker, more agile, faster and has better footwork than his challenger.

With that said, I see Stevenson picking up a unanimous decision victory as Harutyunyan is too difficult to stop via TKO/KO. Also, I think this bout is going to be far less entertaining than the Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal fight on Saturday night.

The Best Stevenson vs. Harutyunyan Prop Bets

The following Stevenson vs. Harutyunyan prop bets are courtesy of BetUS:

Over/Under 10.5 rounds

  • Over 10.5 (-175)
  • Under 10.5 (+145)

Oddsmakers favor this bout to go Over 10.5 rounds (-175). And, when analyzing the data, it’s easy to see why.

11 of Stevenson’s 21 pro fights have gone the distance, which is a 53% rate. Five of his last seven fights have gone the full distance, with four of those being 12-round bouts.

Six of Harutyunyan’s 13 pro fights have gone the full distance, which is a rate of 42%. Three of his last four pro bouts have gone the distance. The 33-year-old German has never been stopped via TKO/KO as his lone pro loss came via decision. Take the Over in this title fight.

Bet: Over 10.5 (-175)

Will Fight go the distance?

  • Yes (-140)
  • No (+100)

Considering the data above, and the fact that Harutyunyan has never been stopped, I like for this fight to go Over 10.5 rounds and the full distance. At -140 odds, this is probably the best value on the board right now.

Bet: Yes (-140)

Method of Victory

  • Stevenson via TKO/KO/DQ (+100)
  • Stevenson via decision (-125)
  • Harutyunyan via TKO/KO/DQ (+1800)
  • Harutyunyan via decision (+4000)
  • Draw (+2800)

As mentioned, I like Stevenson to easily win this fight. However, I believe it will be on points and not via stoppage. For this prop bet, take Stevenson winning via decision at -125 odds. That’s solid betting value for what should be the most favorable outcome to this world title fight.

Bet: Stevenson via decision (-125)

Group Round Betting

  • Harutyunyan To Win In Rounds 1-4 (+5000)
  • Harutyunyan To Win In Rounds 5-8 (+4000)
  • Harutyunyan To Win In Rounds 9-12 (+4000)
  • Harutyunyan To Win By Decision (+4000)
  • Stevenson To Win In Rounds 1-4 (+1000)
  • Stevenson To Win In Rounds 5-8 (+350)
  • Stevenson To Win In Rounds 9-12 (+350)
  • Stevenson To Win By Decision (-125)
  • Draw or Technical Draw (+2800)

Just like with the above prop bet, Stevenson to win by Decision is the favored outcome for this prop bet. However, we do have a hedge chance here. Stevenson to win in Rounds 9-12 at +350 odds offers a great payout. For every $100 wagered, you will win $350 dollars. If you don’t want to risk this hedge opportunity, then go with the favored outcome of Stevenson via decision.

Bet: Stevenson To Win By Decision (-125)

Either Winner Group Round Betting

  • Either Winner In Rounds 1-6 (+400)
  • Either Winner In Rounds 7-12 (+200)
  • Fight To Go The Distance (-140)

The same logic can apply to this prop bet as the one immediately above. However, we get more rounds in this prop bet than the previous one. I fully expect this world title bout to go the full 12 rounds, but we can hedge our bets here by taking either winner to win in Rounds 7-12. By taking this option, we can double our profits.

If you want to play it safe then take the Fight To Go The Distance (-140) option. If you want to hedge your bet or add a little spice to your Stevenson vs. Harutyunyan wagers, then take the Rounds 7-12 option. For me, I’m going to add some spice and take the Rounds 7-12 option for this prop bet.

Bet: Either Winner In Rounds 7-12 (+200)
