US Open Tennis Women’s Odds and Predictions

Gone are the days of assuming it’s Serena Williams or bust. The best women’s tennis player ever claimed the grand slam title for this event six times, but the last time she even made a final was in 2019.

New blood is dominating the sport, and you can see that pretty quickly with one look at the latest 2024 US open women’s tennis odds. I also broke down the men’s US open odds if you’re interested in betting on that side of things, but the women’s side is just as interesting.

This year’s event actually has two tennis stars with the same odds up top as co-favorites, which complicates matters quite a bit. Does not having an individual favorite mean this thing is wide open, or should we only focus on the two players sharing the best odds?

I’ll help you sift through the madness, starting with a look at the latest pricing at BetUS.

Odds to Win the 2024 US Open in Women’s Tennis

BetUS is one of many online betting sites offering odds for the 2024 US Open. Here’s the latest pricing.

Elena Rybakina +700Coco Gauff +850
Naomi Osaka +1000Jessica Pegula +1400
Zheng Qinwen +1800Mirra Andreeva +2200

Emma Raducanu +3300Madison Keys +3300
Jelena Ostapenko +3300Bianca Andreescu +3300
Elina Svitolina +3300Karolina Muchova +4000

Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka get the party started with +300 odds, and they are co-favorites going into the women’s US Open.

That suggests one of them is fairly likely to win, but neither of them have odds as good as the men’s favorite this year.

There are five female tennis players in all with odds at +1000 or better, while two more are priced below +2000. That means the US Open could be pretty competitive, and I’d also bank on a couple of upsets happening.

But what other contenders can actually win this thing? Let’s first look at the co-favorites and then explore who else may be a realistic candidate to earn a grand slam title.

Why Are Swiatek and Sabalenka Co-Favored to Win 2024 US Open?

Recent history at the US Open favors both Iga Swiatek and Arna Sabalenka. First, there has not been a repeat winner since Serena Williams won three in a row here from 2012 to 2014.

This has been a very competitive event, and history indicates a new champion could be crowned in 2024. That doesn’t mean it can’t be someone else who has already won, but perhaps previous stepping stones could tell us what comes next.

As in, Iga Swiatek won this thing for the first time in 2022, and Sabalenka gave is a serious go last year, losing in three matches to Coco Gauff.

The 23-year old Swiatek is the safer pick of the two. She’s the only one of these two that has actually won the US Open before. She also has a little more grand slam experience when it comes to winning, in general.

Both women are riding into the US Open in solid form, though. They’ve both snagged a grand slam title in 2024, while Swiatek finished with a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Games.

When looking at head-to-head success, I’d go with Swiatek there, too. She’s faced off with Sabalenka eight times, scoring five wins. It’s still a close call – hence the shared odds – and there isn’t a wrong player to back.

Picking between the two isn’t easy, but as I suggested before, this is absolutely where you should start when trying to predict who will win the women’s US Open.

Top 2024 US Open Contenders for Women’s Tennis

Swiatek and Sabalenka are deserving co-favorites, but the women’s US Open is actually fairly stacked.

Here are a few more legit contenders I’d consider backing in 2024.

Coco Gauff +850

You shouldn’t just flat out ignore Elena Rybakina (+700), but I personally am not into her for this event. I’d rather kick it up an extra +150 and back Gauff, who offers impressive value despite being the defending US Open women’s champion.

Of course, like I said, nobody has won back-to-back here since Serena Williams. Gauff has the goods to be the next one to do it, of course.

The 20-year old American has seven career titles to her name, but in 2024 she’s been a bit more successful in doubles competitions.

That said, she’s as good as anyone in this event and she won it last year. She’ll absolutely be revving up to defend her title, and at +850 you’re getting considerable bang for your buck.

Naomi Osaka +1000

You’re getting even better value with Naomi Osaka, who has won the women’s US Open twice now. Her most recent win came in 2020, and the 26-year old now has four grand slam titles under her belt.

Osaka hasn’t reached the US Open final since her last win, but she deserves a break after taking time off due to having a child.

She has yet to fully regain form, but she has advanced to the quarter-finals in a couple of tournaments. It won’t be long before she threatens for a takedown again, and her +1000 odds ask you to consider it happening at this year’s US Open.

Zheng Qinwen +1800

One last contender I have my eyes on is Xheng Qinwen, who mopped the floor with the competition at the 2024 Paris Games.

Okay, that’s a stretch. However, she went through a murderer’s row to obtain gold. In round one, she fended off Angelique Kerber across three sets, swept Iga Swiatek, and then held off Donna Vekic to win it all.

That alone has her on my radar, as it simply is not easy to win the gold medal in women’s tennis. This could have been a coming out party of sorts for the 21-year old, who has yet to win a grand slam title in her young career.

She might be gaining momentum, however. Zheng did make it to the quarter-finals here last year, and she even advanced to the finale at the 2024 Australian Open.

Winning gold in Paris guarantees her nothing in this tourney, but Qinwen is doing a lot of good things in succession. Given her price, she’s a really fun contender to roll the dice on.

Best Value Bet to Win the Women’s US Open in 2024

There is actually some solid value when it comes to chasing upside at the 2024 US Open. I don’t hate Jessica Pegula at her +1400 price, and Ons Jabeur (+2400) is pretty interesting for someone who reached the final here just two years ago.

However, if we’re talking serious upside, I can’t get away from Emma Raducanu.

This is easily one of the most talented female tennis players in the entire world, and she literally won the US Open in 2021. On top of that, she’s a staggering value with her +3300 betting odds.

The 21-year old Brit has been surviving on that 2021 US Open win, but she’s made some strides recently with solid runs in the 2024 Australian Open and Wimbledon this year.

An injury was a reasonable explanation for a lull in her top-level production, too, so a slow return to form shouldn’t be a shocker. However, if she can expedite her climb back up to the top, a big win at the 2024 US Open could be part of her story.

It’s not a safe bet by any means, but getting someone this talented that has won the tourney before isn’t easy.

2024 US Open Women’s Tennis Winner Prediction

You will want to pay attention to the women who fare the best on hard courts. It may also make sense to fade the 2024 Australian Open winner (Sabalenka), seeing as no woman has won both hard court titles in the same year since 2016.

History can always be slapped around and make us look silly, but given the crowded competition in women’s tennis these days, it’s worth noting.

Speaking of hard cout success, nobody has been better in 2024 than Swiatek. She has a stout 23-3 record on hard courts this year, and she owns a staggering 79% win rate in such cases.

Toss in the fact that she already won here and made another solid run a year ago, and I think she makes sense as the top betting favorite. I think there is a lot of intriguing value, but she still feels like the correct pick.

Bet: Iga Swiatek +300
