Miss. Valley St. Delta Devils
The Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils, representing Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena, Mississippi, compete primarily within the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) at the NCAA Division I level. Their athletic programs include both men’s and women’s basketball, cross country, track and field, and golf, along with women’s soccer, volleyball, and softball, and men’s-only baseball and football.
The Delta Devils football team, which plays at Rice–Totten Stadium, is well-known for having produced notable alumni like Jerry Rice and Deacon Jones. Meanwhile, the basketball teams compete in the Harrison HPER Complex, maintaining a strong tradition in SWAC tournaments and occasionally reaching the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) and NCAA tournaments. The Delta Devils’ athletic programs emphasize competitiveness within the SWAC, drawing attention as a prominent historically Black college and university (HBCU) athletic program.
